I make the world's best bicycle wash kits as the Service Course. Used to write about pro cycling. Professional communications guy in a parallel universe.
Feeling like 2026 will be the year of “let’s launch our pro cycling team with some AI slop.” Unfortunate.

Can’t remember a recent race I’ve enjoyed as much as Diegem today.

If band names were literal, what would be the worst concert to attend?

Man, the Velo plagiarism thing is embarrassing me, and I haven’t worked for them in eight years. FFS.

This will be referred to by historians as Ineos's Creamsicle Period.

I mean, I suppose I’m open to his ideas on the topic.

Periodic reminder that there is no such thing as a “merger” for pro cycling teams.

Current emphases at my day job are (1) developing a training program for a Servicenow implementation and (2) hating on AI. Now both are infiltrating my cycling world at Lidl-Trek.

Not sure how many DC-area cyclocross racers we have on here, but the Service Course pop-up will be at the season finale at Capital Cross Classic this Sunday.

Unredeemed boxed lunch ticket from the 2004 Gent-Wevelgem. The pressroom was in a library with a horribly fragrant bathroom, and Tom Boonen won his first major classic in apocalyptic conditions.

Pontificating on teeth?
Dentists should stay in their lane: really, really expensive bikes.

For reasons lost to time, Jimmy Cliff was the soundtrack to the first mountain bike trip I ever took, to Brevard, NC, somewhere around 1990. Thanks, Jimmy.

Shoutout to the two Dutch soldiers riding to work through Arlington on this 36-degree morning in full fatigues.
Very on-brand.

Look, I don't care where it starts and ends, it's Gent-Wevelgem. This sport is weird as hell, just embrace it.

And so, as usual, the flight schedule out of National Airport is really the only thing that matters in Congress.

Throwing sandwiches at all my friends at DCCX this weekend. They are powerless to stop me.

First nose strips came back, now this.
Crap, all the clubs are going to do white kit next year, aren't they?
Time is a flat circle

(I'm also convinced this is AI)

Just a little too late to drive wash kit sales at Pan Am cyclocross champs, but welcome nonetheless.
Most models show a sharp cold front coming through the DC region sometime on Sunday or Sunday night. That front, which may bring a period of showers and a thunderstorm, should usher in the coldest air of the season thus far. Maybe even a few stray snowflakes?

As our short king Lars has announced his retirement at the end of the season, you should know that in addition to his formidable palmares, he is also a very nice guy. 👑

Between the government shutdown and all the layoffs, the end of the DC-area cyclocross season is going to be insanely fast.
