"People would ask what happened to my skin. I'd tell them these were burns from the [atomic] bomb. When they heard that, they would turn away. Americans were reluctant to talk about the bombings then ― and I don't think that has changed much."

Please don't do this in alt text. If you're posting a screenshot of text, you need to transcribe the actual text. You can use tools like Google Lens if rereading the text makes you sick.

Really weird that I might be in some of yesterday's protest photos.

Will there be weekly #ICEOut protests now (though we should be out there daily)? That was invigorating. And I can walk to them. When's the next one? #ICEOutOfMinnesota

Finally feeling good enough to protest today!

Put alt text in your posts! That includes you #AltGov accounts, reporters, people posting about events etc. And use camel case (capitalize each word) for hashtags, it helps reading #doctorwhorewatch v #DoctorWhoRewatch, see the difference?) and screen readers. #Accessibility #DisabilitySky

I worked a little on this project. I still didn't know there were that many sites even after that and researching the incarnation for fifteen years.

What I'm talking about, and what non-white people have been talking about for a very long time, is how it's only when white people start getting hurt or dying that people start to be characterized as "heroes" and "martyrs".

Started listening to The End Is Always Near: Apocalyptic Moments, from the Bronze Age Collapse to Nuclear Near Misses by Dan Carlin. Debating if I should, given the title. Then it opens with this: "Do you think that modern civilization will ever fall?"

I'm enjoying the #RebelBirds but y'all, loons have spots! And well it'd be nice if it looked a bit more...realistic like the chickadee and the cardinal ones.

I kept most of the books I had for my Master's. Just finished re-reading Foucault's Discipline and Punish which will go into my dissertation but is also timely. #AcademicSky #Skystorians #DisabilitySky #PhDLife

Just got home from a vigil in the arts district in Minneapolis. All four corners were full. Lots of supportive honking.

White Americans are learning once again that the *only* thing that has ever made you safe from fascism is being willing to sacrifice non-white people. That is your contract with white supremacy. "Give us someone else so it won't be you."

Reading The Manuscripts Club

Bravo to all the UMN students, staff, faculty, and others protesting #ICE today! Wish I could be with you. Stay safe and warm.

Gathered with mostly BIPOC colleagues and then had dinner and games with all BIPOC friends. Most of us haven't left our houses in days. It felt really good. But damn it's cold! Dress appropriately. Wear layers. If you get frostbite use lukewarm water.

If your feet get numb from the cold do NOT put them in hot water. It hurts. A lot.
Use warm water.

If everyone could please capitalize #ICE that would be great. Sincerely, a frequently confused Minnesotan.

Dear professors, I get that you're busy, but if you're teaching an online course, can we please get a link/have access to materials more than a couple hours before class starts? Thank you. Sincerely, an anxious student. #AcademicSky #PhDLife
