@ncph.bsky.social really did spoil me when it comes to history conferences because no reading of papers, lots of field trips and spots for downtime, and great t-shirts are a majority of my conference wardrobe
I'm gonna have such Fun Energy* during this; join me in putting it to good use!
*post-thanksgiving, pre-christmas, in the middle of new exhibit programming+marketing, post & in the middle of political crises that I'm too aware of bc not knowing this stresses me out more AND the year is almost done!

Newsom is a bad person and I’ll leave that bubble empty before I vote for him, but if he spends all day on tv tomorrow calling Schumer a coward and it normalizes the call to primary him among lowish information democrats, godspeed.

My momma bestie is my auntie
My auntie friend that go to her church is also my auntie
My 75 year old cousin... is also my auntie
"Auntie" is what happens when you understand the expansive proposition of family
"That's not your aunt" is what happens when you live outside of restorative community

If children who are not related to you do not call you “Aunt” or “Uncle” then you have no charisma and no light in your eyes.
I used to love how my daughter's little friend Neha, down the street, would call me "Uncle Jeff" when the girls were little.

If you travel around your city using public transit, why not print out copies of Megan's "How to Report ICE" in your city and hand those out? It's a simple way to inform people. drive.google.com/drive/folder... - I distributed some to folks on the bus today and they were all grateful to receive them

It was very telling that for three days, none of the major TV anchors would have me on air one-on-one to talk about my firing from the Washington Post over Charlie Kirk.
The first offers were from
Black media, independent media, Substackers, and podcasters.

It’s going to break your heart how many people you know, love, and respect will turn out to be cowards. Prepare yourself as best you can. You are not alone, but you are your own center. Be a strong center.
