This new legislation is a "yeah🧐 ... nuh" moment for me ... this ⬇️ especially

"The Greens were unable to remove Labor’s new “pay to destroy” from the laws ... the controversial ability for developers to pay into a restoration fund ... already up & running in NSW, with poor outcomes."

Yeah? Nuh.
Long-sought environmental law reform is finally here. But will the compromise deal actually protect nature?
After years of failed attempts, Australia’s environmental laws are finally getting an overhaul. But will they stop the damage done to nature?

Anyone think it 'funny' that Alcoa backed out of the expansion of their bauxite mine in the Jarrah forests of SW WA?

How come the big miners; oil, gas (& other 'players') know about Govt policy 'before' Govt itself - seemingly - does?

Here's us thinking Alcoa did 'the right thing'. fs

Water is a living being, a living entity, with intrinsic value.

It's primary reason for being is not for us to make money. Its primary reason is to remind us just how fragile and dependent we are on its protection.

I stand with the Mangarrayi people protect ing this ancient, living being.

Better to be in bed with the Greens than with the Lib/Nats?

Anywho red herrings & smoke screens aside, I want to know what changes have made it easier for labor to screw over the environment in their favouring of the big polluters, cos they seemed to have picked up that banner from Susssssan's crew
The Greens have secured enviro laws with new protections for native forests & stopped Labor from fast-tracking coal & gas.

We’ve got outcomes that forest campaigners have fought for across decades.

We’ve made it harder for big corporations to keep wrecking our environment.

Gobsmacking incompetence by the 'powers that be' ... potentially bloody useless 'powers that be'.

Right now, though, we all really, really (Teally?) need to 'give a fuck' - these laws are the basis of the environment for the future that our kids & grandkids will live in ... & with.
It's the last day of parliament and I am all out of fucks to give:

Utter insanity

Emissions need to fall by at least 50% in 48 months

Fantastic news. Now, get Adani out of our country. India, along with Saudi Arabia, Russia & a number of other countries, argued against meeting the 2015 Paris Agreement fossil fuels phase out at COP30 this year.

Shut them down & get them out of Australia.

Why it needs to be banned everywhere?

Why 'overthink' it?

Ban it!
Did you know, the QLD Government says coal seam gas fields on agricultural land in QLD can cause groundwater levels to drop by up to 500m?

This government disgusts me.

The environment is the very heartbeat & the bedrock of who we are.

If anything should take precedence over everything else, it's the environment.

We must protect it, conserve it, and we must recognise its intrinsic value and our responsibilities as its custodians.
The Government is trying to push through changes that will weaken our environment laws.

This is the same Government that changed environment laws to protect the toxic salmon industry, and continues to approve fossil fuels for decades to come.

When you re-write Australia's Environment laws, @albomp.bsky.social, just remember these five words ...

The #climate is the #economy.

That ought to be enough to ensure the legislation is both adequate & correct, right?
Any political “leader” still selling the obviously false choice between #ClimateAction and “the economy” is just reminding us that they clearly don’t understand either the climate crisis OR the economy.

Or they’re cynically hope that WE don’t understand the difference.

Or both.
