Not sure how all of us outside of the US got conned into thinking they were 'world leaders'?

They're 'world class' con artists & Trump is simply the embodiment of that ... in our faces.

What civilised country on the planet does not take care of those citizens of it, who are sick?
96% of the highest-paid workers in the US have paid sick days.

Just 38% of the lowest-paid workers get them — including the thousands of retail workers working this holiday weekend.

Only in America do we call working people ‘essential’ but deny them paid sick leave.

Think we've all had enough of being frogs in hot water ... just getting hotter & hotter by the day.

I'd rather the gas industry be shut down but since that's unlikely, even in the face of growing evidence of its impact on climate change, either we stop using it, or demand it at a low price.
Gas exports have tripled Australian gas prices and doubled electricity prices
New Australia Institute research reveals that gas exports have led to the tripling of wholesale east coast gas prices and doubling of electricity prices, since exports began in 2015.

Signing the petition.

Something HAS to be done to bring it all back into 'fiscal' balance & working in the favour of all Australian citizens, not just the 'rich', nor the off-shore multinationals.

It's patently obvious @albomp.bsky.social et al will do nothing unless the electorate force them.

The beauty of Australia's Safeguard Mechanism...it work so good!

...for fossil fuel producers...

#Santos #CarbonCreditUnitsSupportingFossilFuelProduction
CONGRATS to Australian fossil fuel company Santos, which has been granted 614,133 carbon offsets for its new CCS facility.

Assuming a price of $37, that's $22m AUD in profits if they sell the CCS offsets. Or 600k tonnes of fake "neutralisation" if they claim it for themselves.

"But one thing is becoming clearer ... China ... is here to stay, & we had all better get on with the job of adjusting to the new strategic reality."

What is everyone's 'issue' with China?!

Do we members of "colonising cultures" think they'll behave as we've done?

Oxford 'Word' of the year is two words ...

Anywho ... 'brain rot' last year, 'rage bait' this, both related to our use of social media.

Perhaps 'Real life' next year & less of the previous two.

Strong arms Venezuela 'to curb drug trafficking'

Venezuela: regime change is the ultimate goal.

Also Venezuela: a "colonialist threat", "extravagant, illegal & unjustified aggression against the Venezuelans."

US: extrajudicial killings of at least 83 people. No evidence yet as to why.

Lunatic.
Trump declares Venezuela airspace 'closed in its entirety' as tensions surge
Venezuela's government condemned Trump's comments, describing them as a "colonialist threat" against the country's sovereignty.

Fuck around & find out ...

It is not sustainable. And it's gonna come crashing down.
Around 70% of the U.S. economy depends on consumer spending. As wealth concentrates in the richest 10%, the rest of America can’t afford to buy enough to keep the economy running. This is a huge problem — and even America’s most powerful CEOs are starting to sound the alarm.

Oh fuck ... this woman suggesting that fishermen in Trinidad (or Venezuela??) are gonna "come into the United States and kill 1,000 or 100,000 Americans ..."

... one small sentence for 'not blondie', there, but holy shit, one giant leap for stupidity ...

Hey, how's this for colonial arrogance:

Margaret River in SW WA & the Whicher Range were both named after Margaret Whicher, a distant cousin of one the Bussells, apparently betrothed to one. She never even came to the colony!

'Margs' is on Wardandi country. Its real name is Wooditchup. Always was.

With all due respect, you cannot cry poor - scream poor? - when you've been a major contributor to the problem you're now crying poor about. And, a major recipient of all the short term $$$ benefits that, essentially, an absolute lack of environmental respect & foresight has afforded you.

Worth reading for an understanding of the 2008 financial crisis & for the sexist, misogyny that drove the greatest economy in the world toward potential ruin.

This is why women SHOULD have a seat at 'the table'. This is why they must be heard.

Imagine the US today with Kamala Harris at the helm.
One woman saw the Great Recession coming. Wall Street's boys club ignored her.
Brooksley Born could have prevented the Great Recession — if only Wall Street had listened.

They never listened to Reich nor to Brooksley Born, both of whom saw "the elephant in the room", and for Born, "the hippopotamus under the rug," long before anyone else did. Or, if they had, long before their heads were held in it to acknowledge it.

Greed is its own 'truth cancelling' head phones.
31 years ago this month, I warned that America was becoming a two-tiered society composed of a few winners and a larger group left behind, whose anger and disillusionment could be easily manipulated.

I took a lot of heat for this speech. Watch and tell me if I was wrong.

"... the (Mineral) council's chief executive Tania Constable accused his govt of picking a fight with the industry over industrial relations & environmental issues.

Undermine the industry "at your peril", she said."

The audacity.

Times have changed. And, the 'peril'? All yours, Ms Constable.

Yes ... let's choose better tech. And, then ☝️ we can stop spending so much time focussing on how to 'tax' the fossil fool companies, so much money cleaning up after them and just ... shut the f^ckers down.
Imagine showing a petrol engine to someone who had only known electric vehicles, and trying to convince them to switch to petrol. No-one would choose the dirty, noisy, less efficient, more expensive vehicle. This isn't 1910, hostage to gender insecurity. We can just choose the better tech.
