🎧15 silly, yet informative, minutes on #Orvieto covers everything from wine styles to history, painters who were paid with wine … & popes who wanted to be “bathed“ in it.

You know … a #wine bath sounds wonderful right now. 🥂

Read a blog article from a wine guy I periodically read. He now inserts his view on wine bottles used, which I appreciate as heavy bottles are ridiculous. Ex: Stupidly Heavy Bottle (910g; 32.0oz), Extremely Heavy Bottle (842g; 29.6oz) and bravo to Joseph Drouhin —> Responsible Bottle (568g; 20.0oz)

Wow, what a lovely wine. You don’t necessarily see a lot of Mourvedrè (Mataro) in the US. A treat from regen ag/biodynamic producer Troon… Rogue Valley AVA, southern OR. A bit lighter than what we enjoy in France, with smooth silky tannins, yet the same rustic richness #winesky #troonvineyards

Fall is on, or is it autumn? Either way, a recent warm evening included this rosé and main dish shrimp salad combo #winesky

What a concept. Could happen somewhere without aliens #booksky
Just grabbed Port of Earth by Zack Kaplan and Andrea Mutti. A sci-fi graphic novel where aliens don’t invade, they negotiate, setting up a “port of entry” on Earth that changes everything. Can’t wait to dive in! #booksky #graphicnovels #scifi #books #comics #sciencefiction #reading

Agree w/Andrew. Adding on, craziest thing in wine this week is from Jancis Robinson, MW. Much, not all, Provence rosé is based on a trend, & now: "…Provence, FR vine-growers say they’re paid more by grape concentrate makers designed to sweeten ketchup than by those fermenting grapes into wine."

When I reach for Bordeaux, I prefer something softened by age. Porte Chic’s Pomerol ‘15 hit that sweet spot - big on flavor layers, perky acidity, silky tannins, velvety soft. A wine to cuddle up with on a cool autumn evening with a significant other or a good book! Best part? #Winesky

My acquaintance Namratha’s (Nam) book is next on my read list. I know it’s an incredible story of bravery -escaping an abusive marriage and starting over. She makes stunning wine now in Bordeaux! #Booksky #Winesky #biography

I dug for another word to describe this, yet stunning is it!
Snowy Owl (Bubo scandiacus): These Owls inhabit Arctic regions of North America & Eurasia, are ground nesting and hunt rodents. Males are near pure white, females have considerably more beautiful black specks in plumage. Stunning image taken by Li Ying Lu in Alberta, Canada. #snowy #owl #snowyowl
