Chemist by training. Reader, knitter, fond of cats—stereotypical, yes. Inveterate lurker (she/her)
I gave a copy of the Anti-Planner to a family member who was always like "ADHD? I dunno" and it helped her a LOT. To the point she went and got evaluated (and diagnosed) for the first time at >60.
if you struggle to get stuff done when you don’t feel like it (or know someone who does and still needs a present), The Anti-Planner has:
✔ 165+ activities, strategies, and games
✔ no guilt
✔ no cliche advice
✔ just brain hacks that actually work from someone who's been there

Ah yes, once again I agonized for days over something that ended up taking fifteen minutes of minimal effort

Can vouch the axolotl stickers are excellent

Need to finish writing two very specific (short) things today, so instead my brain wants me to add to the 30-page annotated bibliography of doom

That was entirely too much driving, but the trip was worth it. Met cool people, saw cool stuff, learned cool things

Welp, I guess that's my kick in the pants to plan where we'll get off the highway to get local coffee tomorrow
and for anyone wondering: they ARE asking for a full boycott of ALL Starbucks while any union workers are on strike!
Don't buy Starbucks ANYTHING while workers are on strike!

Travel prep has reached the point at which anything I've forgotten is either non-essential, will need to be overnighted to me, or a new one can be acquired cheaply at my destination. I'm going to bed.

If you don't know about the historical roots (pun fully intended) of this annual gift, it's an amazing story

Have to finish packing for a work trip (with baby in tow) today.
Yesterday baby & cats were taking turns sitting in and pulling clothes out of the suitcase.
I need more coffee before I start.

My pcp's office switched emr systems and there is suddenly no way for me to request a medication refill for my adhd meds. I have to call, and I have to do it tomorrow, because weekend. ARRRRGH

I emailed my recommendation writers to remind them of deadlines and they're all on top of it. I have mixed feelings on this front...

Scribbled down my city council at-large choices on a piece of paper. Baby stole it and crawled off. Is this political commentary? #BosPoli

The time change is very offensive to the cats. Zimi is threatening to shred my notes in revenge

Glow sticks & candy are in their dishes, time to turn on the porch light and hope the kids don't get blown away

I just finished knitting a hat for my dad and I have enough of the yarn to do a matching one for my baby. Obviously I must cast that on now!

If you can, this is a great time to donate to your local food bank. Don't shop to donate; they can stretch cash further than you can.

Browsing curtain options online, I think I'm going to end up at the discount fabric store in Dorchester. My windows are non-standard sizes AND most of these are hideous & pricey. If I'm going to spend that kind of money I want to at least like them

The cat brought the (human) baby a lightly stunned mouse today.

She's an excellent and deadly mouser, so this was definitely by way of a gift. Very kind, but no thank you!

Anyone in Boston an immigration lawyer or know one who can help this woman? Her husband is detained at Logan over a dismissed misdemeanor from 2017. He’s a legal resident of the US. She just asked for help an hour ago.

Adventures in old house ownership: after three weekends of work we have finished painting the ceiling and have the walls fully prepped to prime (except the one big hole, I'm hanging art over that until I do a full day of patching)

Coffered ceilings are lovely AND a pain to prep/paint

Having fully recovered from a recent indisposition, I must tackle the chores that piled up in ~a week and a half.

But writing a methods section and formatting tables into a journal's Word template currently sounds more appealing than tackling Mount Laundry 😂

You may think you’re ready for the absurdity of the enormous squid sculpture in the Charlestown Navy Yard where different animals are perched on its tentacles, but I assure you you are not.

We've dodged a LOT of potential lead paint because it appears most of the first floor of our ~1935 house has simply never been painted? Untouched plaster under the wallpaper, hooray! (And lovely, never-painted wood trim). The outsides of the windows, however... 😬
