2 ongoing convos are dovetailing rn:
1. a holiday shopping $ blackout aimed at big business;
2. worry over small presses closing or paring down.

Let's talk direct action: YOU CAN DO BOTH😀

IT'S VITAL TO SUPPORT indie pubs that encourage risk & diversity. Here's a 🧵 of em you can support directly:

The entire US economy is propped up by a product so toxic and insidious that everyone has to go on a weekly scavenger hunt just to remove it from products they're already using.
heads up, gmail has a new setting automatically on that allows their a*i to be trained on your emails so make sure to turn off the 'Smart Feature' checkbox in your settings

Still have a scant few of these!
Remembering the time that I ordered a signed, numbered copy of All Will Writhe by Sam Richard @sammytotep.bsky.social from Weird Punk Books @weirdpunkbooks.bsky.social and requested number 19.
The reply was simple:
I will make this happen!
It still makes me smile.
Thank you both (all) again!

Honest appraisal is that everything is fucked and I have to go to work in 20 minutes.
I just want art and community and growth and joy.
Feeling a lot of numbness, despair, decay, and grief.
Spent a lot of time with ghosts lately.
Need to figure out how to write again. I'm afraid I've forgotten.
Weirdpunk is woefully behind this year on basically everything. Sorry if you're waiting on me. I'm trying to get outta this cave, but it has been super difficult. Looking for hope. Looking for passion. Looking for that part of myself that needs to create.
Everything is so far away right now.

can't imagine why video games are struggling when the prevailing business model is "we didn't pay any people to make this, but you can pay us (monthly) to play it, and pay even more to play the whole thing, but also you don't own it"

I get why authors are compelled to do it, but few things make me want to read a book/story less than those tropelist pointing to the book marketing banners. I really wish they'd go away, but I guess they Do work as a marketing tactic on more people than they're off-putting to.

This has been one of the most unproductive periods of both my writing and publishing life. I'm exhausted.
I'm also breaking through something, and maybe that's what this has all been about.

Please remember that flawed human beings who have made mistakes deserve dignity too, an undocumented person with a criminal record still doesn’t deserve violence at the whim of the government.

Not everyone ICE is targeting is a perfect person and you shouldn’t fixate on that.

ChatGPT advised a suicidal young woman on how to take her own life, telling her "If you choose death, I'm with you - till the end, without judging."
I wanted ChatGPT to help me. So why did it advise me how to kill myself?
ChatGPT wrote a woman a suicide note and another AI chatbot role-played sexual acts with children, BBC finds.

This movie is so fucking good.
Tonight's watch, Wolfen (1981). A coked up slurry that seems to anticipate the British invasion comics with meaty ideas about urban renewal as violence, colonization as self inflicted psychosis, cultural appreciation veering into cultural insensitivity, and tech panopticons. Shade the Changing Wolf.
