"determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy" — c'mon, what are we doing here???

casting RFK as an iconoclast who's valiantly fighting the good fight is a mind-boggling sanewashing of his dangerous views (yes, even considering the aside within em dashes)
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

"Trump is a fucking idiot who gets rolled by anyone who's nice to him" theory remains undefeated, putting someone like Mamdani in there is like having Randy Johnson sub in for a 5th grade Little League game
Q: Stefanik has called Mamdani a 'jihadist.' Do you think you're standing next to a jihadist right now?

TRUMP: No, I don't. I met with a man who's a very rational person

I'm saying this to myself as much as to anyone else: it's okay to admit publicly that you don't know something!

or at least, it should be!

This is an accidentally honest answer. What she's saying in code is:
"The President is a misogynist, petulant bully. You've all seen him be a misogynist, petulant bully. And lots of voters out there are also misogynist or petulant or bullies and that's why they like him."
Q: What did the president mean when he called a reporter "piggy"?

LEAVITT: Look, the president is very frank & honest with everyone in this room. You'll all seen it yourself. You've all experienced it yourselves. And I think it's one of the many reasons the American people reelected this president

This is great, and I was particularly glad to see Alissa note that there's plenty of blame to go around here, including for all the Platforms that are so hungry for Content these days.

Strong incentives for artists to take shortcuts have existed in the past, but doing so has never been this easy!

ah yes, Bill Cassidy — in the parlance of his party's base, his initials might stand for Beta Cuck
RFK Jr had committed to Bill Cassidy, as a condition to win his vote, that he would keep website language.

Cassidy in February: “If confirmed… CDC will not remove statements on their website pointing out that vaccines do not cause autism.”

Note the language in second photo.

when i was a kid WPIX (free) aired 55 Yankees games a season, WCBS (free) aired two Yankees games a season, ESPN (not free, but basic cable) aired ten Yankees games a season, and MSG Network (your mileage may vary) aired 95 games a season. hell 20 years ago 40% of D-Rays games were on free TV!
You will need YES, Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, ESPN, Netflix, NBC/Peacock, FOX, and TBS to watch the Yankees next season.

This is still such a funny scene. Big Bird walked in like "WOW! WOULD YOU LOOK AT THIS? Y'ALL WAS TALKING HELLA SH*T ABOUT ME! FOR YEARS! NOT YOU GORDON AND MARIA. Y'ALL HELD ME DOWN. BUT THE REST OF Y'ALL! LOOK AT YOU! GOT YOU STANDING HERE WITH THE STUPID FACE! TELL ME AGAIN I WAS LYING!"
[November 18th, 1985] In the Season 17 premiere of Sesame Street, Episode 2096, the adults on Sesame Street finally meet Mr. Snuffleupagus and realize he is real, not imaginary.

Elmo is also introduced as a new character.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

A lot of people didn’t like the Washington Post journalist who was tortured and dismembered with a bone saw for writing critically about the man sitting next to me
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."
