Am experimenting with some different tech providers in 2026 and so far am hugely impressed Proton Mail @proton.me 🇨🇭 proton.me/about and Vivaldi browser @vivaldi.net 🇳🇴 vivaldi.com/company/ - Really slick apps and seemless onboarding experience, including transfer of existing data 😃

for the last few nights as I've been falling asleep I've been trying to write jokes that I could send in to next year's Adam & Joe Xmas podcast. It's a pretty fruitless endeavour as I tend to forget any that come to mind, but last night's has just resurfaced...

I'm not sure I've ever used a software product as buggy as Spotify. Amazing that this company was once held up as an example of how to do software development.

This govt. is far from perfect (!), but getting rid of the two child benefit cap is a fantastic thing and should be celebrated.

Whatever else this government do (and there's plenty of issues with this budget) ministers will always be able to point to this as an incredible important contribution to the country's future. Almost half a million kids taken out of poverty.
Scrapping the two-child limit in full is a monumental decision. Well done to all involved in the Child Poverty Strategy, and everyone who has made the case against the policy.

OBR says scrapping costs £3 billion in 2029-30 and will lift 450,000 out of poverty

📣THREAD: It’s surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but you–not AWS, not Signal, not anyone–can access your comms).

It’s also concerning. 1/
PSA: we're aware that Signal is down for some people. This appears to be related to a major AWS outage. Stand by.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

my daughter had "coding club"at school and loved it, such that we are now working on a making a game with Scratch in the evening. The joy she has when we do something like make the sprite have a shocked face when an enemy appears is such a delight. Reminds me of the joy that coding can bring 😃

Just checking out the NFL scores on the ESPN site. They have a new "key plays" feature, which makes absolutely no sense. I guarantee this is AI generated because any human who submitted this work would be insta-fired. Why do they do this? Who wants this? The gap between AI hype and reality is vast.
