A reminder that Oxfordshire has also very successfully rolled out 20mph in a rural county with exceptionally limited political pushback. I really don't think this is talked about enough. Are your Cllrs refusing 20mph cos "Our LA isn't London"? Tell them about Oxfordshire! Happy to share policy docs.
Study on London 20 mph limits shows:
- collisions ⬇️ 35%
- casualties ⬇️ 36%
- fatal/serious injuries ⬇️ 34%
- child casualties ⬇️ 46%
- child deaths ⬇️ 75%
- walkers, cyclists, motorcyclists killed/seriously injured ⬇️ 28%

Technology should not be introduced at the expense of pedestrian freedom to use the highway safely and conveniently. We need to make sure that the most vulnerable road users are protected and prioritised so that our streets work for all.

The switch to 20mph roads in Wales meant:

🟢 100 fewer dead or seriously injured
🟢 26% fewer injured
🟢 The lowest 3 month casualty figure since records began 46 years ago

That's in just the first year. Real lives saved, real families spared a lifetime of pain and hardship.
