Hey some of us are between jobs and rely on the ACA to scrape up money to afford care.

Care to help tangibly by sharing this? Get one person employed?

As we wind down the last hour of my birthday, I’d like to suggest something you can do as a gift.

Many of you know prisoner support is important to me. It would mean a lot to me if you donated to support political prisoner Casey Goonan or wrote them a letter.

The obvious question of "500 more troops to do what?" has no good answer, but many bad ones.
Place National Guard in harm’s way for no good reason. Two members are tragically and unnecessarily shot. The reckless regime’s response: We’re sending 500 more National Guard troops! What a disgrace.

Even if you don't care about Black people, you should care about the billions of dollars. Because that's *your* money!

And it's not even spent on solving thefts, SA, or homicide.

Most of it goes to trying to pull over Black drivers and arrest them for weed.

Or stopping *checks notes* jaywalking.🤦🏿‍♂️

If Health Insurance companies wanted to keep customers, every home page would say the following:

"Click here to send a copy of your 2026 expected premiums to your local Senator and House Representative."

*Not official, not live, just a mockup using an insurance site as a base.

So many men go through life like that. You can play poker because it's right-coded, you can't enjoy fruity alcoholic drinks because they're women-coded, you can't lick an ice cream cone because it's gay-coded. All day, every day, choosing and judging things based on coding for narrow norms.

"Extending the enhanced ACA credits does have support among everyday Republicans: A November poll by KFF found that, among Republican and Republican-leaning independents, 72 percent who didn’t identify with MAGA—and almost half of MAGA supporters—wanted ACA tax credits to continue."

It’s so cool to have hitched your wagon 20 years ago to an industry that was booming beyond anyone’s expectations and have it turn out to be stripmined and utterly hollowed out by Shareholder Value, and every other industry you could slot into has been, surprise, hollowed out by Shareholder Value

almost every novelist you read who's not from the airport fiction or bestseller sections is working a full on day job, including multi-award winners and absolute legends, or they have a spouse or trust that supports them. virtually across the board. just normalize in your mind that's how it works.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

It's like I have a portfolio and projects from working with a B2B company...there's no reason I should be under-employed. There's no reason I shouldn't have a stream of projects from multiple vendors or a FT job with one company.
"Jobs don't exist anymore" is a phrase I've repeated to myself a lot. No idea what the hell most of you do all day but if someone is paying you to do it, hold on for dear life, because if it goes away it feels like it's probably not coming back. Either that or I'm just particularly unemployable.
“Stella why do you put up with x or y” what would you like me to do man. I was unemployed for 18 of the last 36 months. Jobs don’t exist anymore. We take what we can get now, warts and all.
