I thought it would be not changeable. Did not look good enough in the short cut settings.

4.6. is unusable for me rn, cause dragging in the 3D view snaps to fixed angles.
You can get rid of the ultron irritating ortho snapping, but the snapping itself to fixed perspective angle stays.
Anybody any fixes for that?

There's a z-distance based outline size parameter, that can be adjusted with a curve.
For a quick setup, there's also a single-value distance fadeout ^^
