Our amendment doesn’t cut those things.
Mayor Wilson could’ve called me to clarify and ask questions before blasting us in a newsletter, but of course he has to find a scapegoat when he doesn’t magically end homelessness on 12/1 by warehousing people.
Looking forward to clarifying this tomorrow.

The Impact Reduction Program also provides trash abatement, which is essential in maintaining clean, walkable sidewalks for all Portlanders. We shouldn‘t cut their budget.

Over the weekend, the Mayor started calling nonprofits warning them their funding would disappear if this passed. 🙃 Except… most of them don’t even get money from that sweeps budget.
Nice try though.

My son Seamus died 15 years ago today. He was killed by a careless driver in a crosswalk.
He walked at 9 months, almost as if he knew he wouldn’t have much time. His favorite thing to do was throw rocks into water. He loved the moon. He called butterflies “buddy buddies.” I miss him every day.

In the week since Mayor Wilson began enforcing the public camping ban, we are seeing MORE tents in East Portland. Those folks are just being swept into my district.
I told the mayor that this is what would happen and asked him to bring extra resources to East PDX to meet the displaced. He did not.

I’ve considered Keith Wilson a less-than-honest actor since he told a mayoral forum that he’d revoke Zenith Energy’s permits if malfeasance was demonstrated, took office, & immediately fast tracked Zenith’s new LUCS after they were fined by DEQ for illegally using infrastructure for fossil fuels.
DEQ fines Zenith Energy, requests new land use statement from the City of Portland
Zenith has a storied history of flouting local regulations. The latest DEQ findings represent a significant setback for the Houston oil-by-rail company.

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
