My parents, who live in a village, had a letter from the council saying that someone had complained about the noise of the cockerel. Turned out to be someone who had recently moved to the village and it was there second home.

Today the Sun produced an X1.8-class #SolarFlare (the highest category). The event also triggered an Earth-directed coronal mass ejection, although we are still yet-uncertain of the likely strength or timings of the impact at Earth. #spaceweather

I’m always disappointed when a famous-but-awful person dies and people I otherwise respect come out with stories of “but he was always nice to me” or “here’s this single exception from a group he otherwise hated and disparaged” as if that changes the rest of their behavior.

It's been 3 years since I had a crack at this one - #Messier33 or the #Triangulum Galaxy. Last night I caught this for an hour. One of the three biggies in our Local Group of galaxies, alongside Milky Way and Andromeda, M31. Just about fits my field of view.

When I tossed out the old container of paints used to do the cover painting for WORDS OF RADIANCE, it landed upside down in my wastebasket on a piece of paperboard I had been using as a palette for something else. 1/2
