The fronds
shiver in the roaring rain
and the precious frangipanis
fall onto pools and swollen
puddles. I fear for the delicate
nest, swaying in the storm,
tenderly built between spindly
branches by the smallest of birds.

of approaching
squall pulls itself
over the Firth.
The storm blisters
the sea and brings
a loud desolation
to the empty hill.
