Kevin H. O'Rourke is one of my favorite economic historians, especially on the history of trade. In the second half of this very interesting podcast he discusses the history of globalization and anti-globalization movements.

In 1985 the official position of the British state was that the ANC were terrorists and apartheid South Africa were good guys.

In 2024 the official position of the British state is that Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorists and apartheid Israel are good guys.

A new Justice Department policy update says that even repeat corporate offenders can avoid prosecution if they “make good faith efforts” to come clean.

Last night, 19 Senators voted to end illegal arms sales to Israel.

We stood up to AIPAC, the Democratic Senate leadership, and the Biden administration.

We must continue going forward to end illegal arms sales and hold Netanyahu accountable for his war crimes.

And if there was one message I wish I could convey, from our groups to you, it's that - don't wait.

When you see a need, don't wait to try to fill it or fix the problem. There's no "authority" or "adults in the room" to wait for.

There's just us, and we're enough.

Don't wait.
Act.
Anarchists are all over, but we've learned there's not much point to being loud about our affiliations and our tendency in this day and age - so instead we just get to work.

We just build things, fix tings, make things happen. We see a need and we just do it. It is maybe our defining trait.

Speaking purely as an economist, I am all in favor of banana art. If artists can figure out ways of getting the wealthy to give them large sums of money by offering them cultural status, it is just a very efficient form of income redistribution.
