Poorest Britons lose right to financial privacy.

The Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Act 2025 empowers the state to 24/7 snoop on the bank accounts of recipients of universal credit; employment and support allowance; state pension credit.

No court order needed. No right of appeal.

If someone’s grandpa posted this on Facebook, the family would be discussing assisted living by dinner.

It’s definitely an argument in favour of paragraphs 😬
Can’t decide whether this is an argument for or against character limits on social media posts.
Trump is upset. Lol 😂

Don’t believe me? Well, do you remember any of this bullshit and shenanigans, to keep Boris Johnson out of power. No, you don’t remember it because it didn’t happen. Because Johnson is officer class and entitled to rule, a real person who actually matters, like they are.

The thing to note is that all the lads were boiling with white hot fury at old Jezza, but they will all at very least sit on their hands for Farage. Because the latter might be a fascist but he’s officer class, and he’ll listen to a lot important people who matter rather than disregarding them.

Do we think the current government does not understand its hate-driven crackdowns are the building blocks of fascism? Of course they understand. They would prefer that, because there is a place for them in that system. They are securing their own future, at everyone else’s expense.
Capitalists in democracies need a fallback position for contingencies, when the system they create stops delivering for most of the population. The public, left to their own devices, will abandon neoliberalism. Thatcherism is the motte, fascism is the bailey.

It’s sometimes difficult to distinguish between the purveyors and consumers of the Kool Aid

I reckon this lad is a consumer 🤔
However, I reiterate the original and main point I made which is if Digital ID can help reduce illegal work then that is a good thing.

And it is not progressive to lose control of who is entitled to be and work here.

Next up: Prisons too expensive so we’re bringing back corporal punishment twinned with public humiliation. An AI powered hue and cry system will replace the too expensive police force

It is clearly outrageous and unacceptable that this is going to allow the Government to handout 3 year jail sentences to anyone it doesn't like.

And even if you believe the current Government won't do that.

Others surely will.

It’s time to ban politicians from Twitter. Their brains aren’t fully formed and continued exposure can be severely detrimental to their mental health

At the very least teach them the critical thinking skills required to navigate the social media landscape effectively. Evening classes or something…
I don’t know whether Badenoch ever had a brain to fry… but if she did, she’s fried it. On X. She’s a joke.
Unprofessional. Bitchy. Idiotic. How very very very low the Tory party has sunk. Embarrassing.

Whenever AI is a topic for discussion people‘s first instinct is to fret over who gets to keep their job

We are so utterly embedded in the current system that it’s impossible to imagine something radically different and better, nor just how bad things could actually get with AI powered capitalism

In the Middle Ages, serfs paid for the privilege of working their lord's land, which included renting animals needed for cultivation.

They also bore the responsibility for maintaining the fields and buildings, incurring costs and expending labour from their own resources.

What's changed?
Kirkby residents receive £3.6m bill for flats too dangerous to live in
Two unsafe tower blocks in Kirkby, Merseyside, were closed down by the fire service in July.

UK budget freeze on income tax thresholds

Over the next 5 yrs, 780,000 more people, the poorest, will pay income tax for the first time.

Someone earning £50,000 will pay £9,512 in tax, an increase of £1,247 because thresholds are frozen.

Can't grow economy by hitting low/middle income earners.
The government’s budget is simply managing decline
The budget does little to improve living standards or facilitate sustained economic growth

Destroying jury trials because everything else is broken is a terrible idea
Tristan Kirk: While not perfect, the jury system is a treasured and historic commodity that fosters a level of trust in our courts

Trial by jury does more than simply protect the rights of individuals. It prevents the state from corrupting the courts to their own ends and using them as a tool of oppression

The gov also want out of the ECHR…

Direction of travel here is towards the dark ages
David Lammy was right in 2020 when he called the jury system fundamental to our constitution.

Now the government wants to remove juries from all but the most serious cases. It is dangerous and wrong and the Prime Minister must reverse it.
