My tween just informed me that I have inspired a new item in his DnD campaign/universe -- The Sunglasses of Omniscience.

This is it. This is my legacy. Can *anything* top this?

Climate injustice made an appearance at the Super Bowl last night. Most don't know that Puerto Rico struggles with reliable electricity due to systemic racism. The government refuses to invest in any real grid improvements, so lights will be kept on at resorts while Puerto Ricans sit in the dark.

I teach a science media literacy module in all my courses.

It includes knowing the difference between a press release and a reported news story.

Here's a really interesting new research paper about public understsanding of that difference! #SciComm 🧪

Same. My intense discomfort at the sound of whistles doesn't mean people should stop using this very effective tool to prevent kidnapping.
There are people trying to stop others from using whistles, and next they'll say it's ableism.

As your disability advocate friend, I will be the first with serious sensory sensitivity to say that I would rather be in pain than someone get abducted, or shot.

Block/mute this argument, it's an op.

Credit where it’s due, they’re finally pushing back. Every blue state should be paying attention to this and making their own plans for how to keep these fascist fucks from murdering us.
Minnesota's state FBI-like bureau is suing Noem. It says before pre-emptively declaring the killing righteous and abandoning the crime scene, feds took exclusive custody of evidence, including "apparently seized cellphones."

MN asserts a sovereign right to investigate crimes within its borders.

This is how I will refer to him from now on. 🤣💀
Lowly’s human car is rolling out a presser tour to help shore up the Christian right and keep that support. I don’t think he knows that they hate the Catholics.

This is why I support freedom of expression.

Appropriately, it is the chaos of a system that supports free speech that gives rise to the grand process of democratic self-governance and the ideally upward arc of human progress and flourishing.
