I think violence (very expansively defined) is a necessity for kindness. It’s paradox of tolerance stuff. You gotta be uncompromising in defending kindness or it all gets sapped away by bs attrition. Which is kinda what’s happened in a lot of the world today.

And it’s not because I don’t think you should! It’s just because I worry people are choosing kindness the way the one serious student among a bunch of slackers takes over the group project when it’s clear nobody wants that responsibility.

i think it is fascinating that so many artists say that their best ideas come from out of the blue from within, it is sad that the world is now specifically set up to eliminate those moments of calm and peace where the ideas can surface.
