How can you not be romantic about baseball?
It's hard to believe the season is over, but what a series to end it on. Take a journey with me as I try to encapsulate a wild Game Seven from Cooperstown.
The Greatest Game I've Ever Seen?
Trying to make sense of Game Seven as I sit among the fog and ghosts in Cooperstown.

“For 29 remarkable days in October (and November) they made us feel like we were in something together.”

Always enjoy Cathal Kelley’s writing.

I know we like to complain about politicians, but I had a good interaction today: I emailed a city Councillor (not mine) about the state of a park in their ward and they responded (for real - not a form response!) in less than 24 hrs to say they've already taken action. Very happy to hear that!

This makes it sound even worse that they didn’t put in the dedicated lanes, for the sake of what? A couple hundred parking spaces that are occupied 18% of the time?
Saxe says the parking changes in this compromise plan for Bathurst will have minimal impact, because the spaces only have an 18% average peak occupancy. The changes will displace just $38 a day in parking revenue.

Mine is “Think harder, Homer”. I say this *routinely* to my kids.
what's the stupidest/randomest Simpsons quote that lives in your head rent free? Mine is the urge to say "you said go to bread" every time I am about to head to bed.

@wilnerness.bsky.social when a glove gets damaged like that, do the Jays have someone on staff who can re-lace them? It seems to be a niche skill.

This kind of rhetoric really bothers me. I live in this city. I’d really like for my kids to be able to move out one day and be able to continue to live in this city so I don’t have visit them in Sudbury or Timmins. I’d like for them to have options.
Councillor Stephen Holyday has printed out a photo from a "sold out" consultation event he attended about the sixplex issue ("The same night as the hockey game!")

He says allowing sixplexes will only produce a "handful of houses" but will "alienate and anger the city."

Help expand car share across Toronto - send an email to City Council! www.kevrup.ca/carshare

Toronto has outdated & unfair rules about on-street permit parking in Scarborough, North York & Etobicoke residents which prevent car share from operating in these areas. [1/3]

Is anyone able to watch the Canadian Screen awards online right now? The news, entertainment, politics awards were supposed to be streamed, I thought, but the site isn’t working.

It's always worth reposting this. I watch it every time it crosses my timeline, which means I've seen it at least 5 times today.
eight years ago today we all watched the glory of zendaya falling madly in love with tom holland and the internet was never the same

Maybe it’s because the conservatives are spending a bunch of ad money with CBC right now? A friend heard 5 Poilievre ads in about 30 mins on radio.
Pierre Poilievre has suddenly gone silent on defunding the CBC.

Poilievre has not mentioned his promise to gut the public broadcaster at any of his press conferences or policy announcements since the campaign started on Sunday.

I prefer to call it Voting Day because it's active, we need to be active, & today is the day we get to be active. Saying "Election Day" is more passive - candidates will get elected - but on Voting Day we get to (have to!) do something. So brave the weather, get out there & be active: VOTE.

Have you got a voting plan for tomorrow? It's usually easy peasy & can be again, even if you don't have a voter card. Check elections.on.ca for your location, & head there with your ID like it says below. Please vote tomorrow!

This is a really interesting, thoughtful interview with the former actor and longtime CBC broadcaster Jeff Douglas about the resurgence of the iconic Molson "I Am Canadian" commercial in the last two weeks due to the trade war and his mixed feelings about the ad's message: www.cbc.ca/radio/asitha...

Still thinking about this from @graphicmatt.com a few days ago. Having a nonprofit to fundraising and operate Old City Hall seems like a good idea to me... A Toronto Museum & mix of 401 Richmond & Artscape venue would be awesome. Who's going to do it? www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
Matt Elliott: Toronto has a lot of rich people. But there’s a reason it’s hard to tell
Toronto’s ultra-rich seem more likely to complain about things like property taxes and bike lanes than they are to ever write a cheque for philanthropy.
