The thing you need to understand about the Right is that they are absolutely fine just plain burning down higher education if taking it over ideologically doesn’t work. They’re perfectly happy reducing it to ashes.

In terms of US politics, Bush v. Gore is the defining event of the century. It set the template: a ruthless right that instinctively seeks power & doesn't give a shit about rule of law...and a bunch of hapless, feckless octogenarian Dems worried about the good opinion of centrist opinion columnists.
The 25th anniversary of Bush v Gore is today. The conspiracy mongering & corruption of the GOP has been brewing for a long time.

Roberts, Barrett and Kavanaugh were all on Bush's legal team, where they pushed unfounded legal theories. SC justices were already enmeshed in voter fraud myths.
Here's Sandra Day O'Connor endorsing News Max levels of voter fraud conspiracies in the 2000 election.

Universal basic income will reduce crime. That crime didn't go down in the Finland pilot does not disprove that, and it definitely doesn't disprove the causation of crime by poverty, nor support the eugenics view that crime is in the genes like Elon appears to grossly believe.

If you would like to understand Benny's principles, here's a story. While at IJR on the day of the 2015 Roanoke shooting, Benny cried in the newsroom. Not because of the shooting itself, but because we told him he wasn't allowed to post the video of the murder on the website.
Benny Johnson had perhaps the best 2025 of any streamer on the right, drawing more than 1 billion YouTube views as he hobnobbed with Trump administration power players and GOP elites.

His job is to have no principles. Business is booming. www.mediamatters.org/benny-johnso...

People are worried about Trump not leaving office in 2029 but they should be more worried about the Supreme Court enabling perpetual Republican rule by overturning what remains of the Voting Rights Act and campaign finance laws. SCOTUS has those cases this term.
25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

For Trump, declining to 36 percent approval is “good news.”

For Biden, holding steady at 41% is “a source of concern.”

It appears within a couple of weeks more bills will be passed via discharge petition than by the majority party which.. yeah. What this means is Johnson is speaker in name only and has lost the house.
Congress scholars, is it a good sign for the incumbent majority party's chances of staying in power when the minority is able to pass legislation repeatedly using discharge petitions?
I've staffed two impeachment trials...
I've battled a Rule 19 fight....

But never have I ever been a part of a successful House discharge petition... UNTIL TODAY.

Thank you, Congress, for passing the Protect America's Workforce Act to restore fed workers' union rights.

Senate, it's your turn.

I don't know if it's possible for Democrats to make a federal judge a mainstream issue in the 2026 midterms. But if anything like this is ever going to work, it's "Emil Bove is a corrupt war crimes enthusiast who attends Trump rallies for fun, and we will impeach him on our first days in office"
Emil Bove Will Always Be a Trump Rallygoer First
Trump demands loyalty from his judicial nominees. As Emil Bove demonstrated on Tuesday, his nominees are very comfortable with displaying that loyalty in public.
