The other night I dreamed that there was something like the Kardashev scale to see how advanced a civilization was but instead of measuring how much energy they had harnessed it was whether or not they had yet created SpongeBob

At the risk of starting the flame war to end all flame wars...

Modern LLMs (GPT-5.1, Claude 4.5, Gemini 3) produce excellent code and can be a significant productivity boost to software engineers who take the time to learn how to effectively apply them - especially if used with coding agent tools

Oh, your apple orchard does a hayride? That’s cool. We go to one that doesn’t have a name and features ancient trees planted deep in the woods by a Louisiana Purchase-era drunk. They have a series of progressively more depressing barn cats and an open barrel labeled “Cyder?” It’s not on Google

Wild how fast AI ethics conversations vanished.

No one’s pretending AI-driven layoffs today mean better jobs tomorrow. That line aged like milk.

And alignment talk such as making sure the AI is “good”? Also dead. Instead an AI that calls itself “MechaHitler” just landed a Pentagon contract.

The Court’s guiding principle now seems to be that when the Trump administration’s conduct is so glaringly & indisputably unconstitutional that even this shameless majority can’t bless it, they will at least find procedural excuses to enable the illegal policy for as long as possible.

This is obviously ridiculous but it is kind of bleakly funny that this advice more or less has the same beats as advice about what to do if you encounter a bear in the woods, just in terms of the unknowability of the other party. "Make yourself appear larger and the cop will usually run away."
The article reads like a parody. Is this a joke? Have I been had?
