A true patriot wants his daughters to be protected from foreign rapists but has no interest in them having equal pay or career opportunities, no interest in tackling intimate partner violence or stalking, no interest in ending workplace sexual harassment and no interest in combating online misogyny.

With a clanging lack of subtlety, he invokes the safety of his teenage daughter, when it sounds like it's actually him that needs his hand holding and someone to protect him when he's out in public.

At the same time it reflects horribly on the wider state of European football. The team that finished 17th in England won a UEFA trophy last season (beating the one that finished 15th). This year they've cantered through the 'league phase' of apparently the most difficult club competition on Earth

The salient point to Spurs being as bad as they are is this is exactly what football and sport should be. Bad teams should be in danger of and - God forbid - actually experience relegation. Money shouldn't be an impenetrable buffer. Going down shouldn't be an existential worry for clubs

Farage has contributed to a parliamentary debate 34 times since his election. He's voted 161 times. By comparison (contributions/votes): Ed Davey: 53/195; Ellie Chowns (Grn): 230/342; Stephen Flynn (SNP): 76/110; Liz Saville Roberts (Plaid): 167/229.
Given how much Nigel Farage hates working from home, it would be nice to see him turn up at his workplace a bit more regularly

Reform banned journalists they dislike from covering their party conference and then Nigel Farage dissembled about it to Congress, so I think we’ve heard quite enough faux free speech bollocks out of them, tbh.
This is pretty menacing.

Sarah Pochin wrote to Bangor's university student run debating society requesting that she attend to "answer questions from students."

When they said "no" Reform rolled all it's tanks onto the lawns and said they'll cut funding to the entire university if they win.

Farage - a total hypocrite on the Mandelson appointment. And, besides, the Epstein files expose him too.
A grubby apologist to Trump. A useful idiot to Bannon. And a traitor to the UK.

There's definitely a sense of 'that other bloke' here. Doesn't matter who 'that other bloke' is but 'that other bloke must be better than Keir Starmer' - without really knowing who 'that other bloke' is.

Yes, it’s *exactly* the same failings of character that got him fired from government the first two times.

Comprehensively, too: his desire to schmooze the ultra-rich, his willingness to use his office to do that, and his indignant belief that it’s okay for him to do that.
Wes Streeting saying on Today that Mandelson is ‘not the man we thought he was’ but the trouble is, he is exactly the man we thought, just on a much worse scale than almost anyone thought. And there is an alternative world where none of this is this govt’s problem, because they never gave him a job

- WAS calling for the two child limit to be scrapped.
- NOW calling for the two child limit to be reinstated.
