If you are being asked to give a speaking engagement, you should be getting paid for it, at least enough to cover all your expenses, and particularly if its by an organization that makes money, has sponsors, or charges the audience.

I'm convinced that what was missing for Bluesky to succeed was just a mass migration thing. No point changing networks if the people you follow don't go along. After brazilians were forced to migrate, I'm hopeful that more users will come along soon enough and that other place finally sinks.
