To all the people complaining about not understanding the Bad Bunny lyrics: you don’t really get the lyrics to most of the songs you listen to and if you know what the words say I doubt you know what they mean. Googoogoojoob my friends.

At least 600 clergy came to MPLS in the freezing temps, dropping everything from their overwhelming jobs

including like 100 rabbis

to be there in solidarity.

The Bible commands us to care for im/migrants at least 36 times, more than any other commandment.

"Thou shalt not murder" is also a thing.
Religion note: those who have been protesting DHS/ICE in the streets — those Sec. Hegseth labels “lunatics” here — have included hundreds of clergy *just this week.* religionnews.com/2026/01/23/i...

A fun and heartbreaking fact: I once mentioned the concept of more than one Filet-o-Fish in a New Yorker column and, per our unimpeachable copy department, the correct plural turns out actually to be Filet-o-Fishes

If you are anxious and sad about the state of the world, that's fine, and there are plenty of strategies for dealing with that. But I think you already know that drive-by online dooming isn't a strategy. It's selfish and adolescent. It's a contagion that only spreads the worst of you, not the best.

To drive this home: We learned this morning that the US manufacturing sector contracted in December for the 10th consecutive month, per ISM
The factory revival was always a myth, how tariffs backfired, and why chaos, favoritism, and attacks on rule of law are making the U.S. a riskier place to do business.

Omg
This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Americans are spending more time thinking about money now than they were last year — and it’s not all positive.
72% of people say they’d be happier if they saved or invested more money. Far fewer said spending more would bring happiness.
While financial happiness is typically framed as a choice between spending on material goods or spending on experiences, many Americans are expressing a different desire for their money: saving more.

More of this kind of rich person, please.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.
