Diametrically-related to Noonien Soong. Allegedly.
Line-item is there strictly politically.

Not only is it a bad idea, & likely unconstitutional, but it never gets through.

And. It. Shouldn't.

If the house finance chairman isn't available today, how was the budget legislation being introduced?
January 15, 2026 at 9:22 PM
Would be a major win for Amore.
Legislation introduced by state Rep. Joe McNamara would move RI's presidential preference primary to be the first Tuesday of March as opposed to April's final Tuesday.

@rihouseofreps.bsky.social Speaker @joeshekarchi.bsky.social is a cosponsor

Will be curious to see how aggressively Democrats advocate for this; glad to see my paper with Mark Shepard and Tim Layton cited.
Democrats make pitch to keep no-premium Obamacare plans
While Republicans believe the plans encourage fraud, Democrats worry that raising premiums will prompt lower-income enrollees to drop coverage.

Sounds like a new bracket. Curious how it interfaces with the pass-through deduction.

100%
I don't think the second part (make his case to Dem primary voters) is actually true. The number of undecided Democratic primary voters watching tonight is negligible.

Really, he has to convince political analysts that he has made a decent case to be the Democratic nominee, so they can tell voters.
From Rhode Map: Tonight is an opportunity for Governor Dan McKee to present a more compelling vision for the state.

It seems a terrible timing coincidence that we don't know the fate of Centurion until the day the budget recommendation drops.

If Centurion doesn't get it done, that's an instant hole in the proposed plan on day 1.

Stumbled upon a column I wrote quoting former
@providencejournal.bsky.social editor Tom Heslin: "To dismiss the issue of access as the narrow concern of reporters is, to me, akin to dismissing airline safety as the narrow concern of pilots. I assure you, we are all passengers on this democracy."

Next week the governor's budget comes out.

The following week we start getting contextual/antagonistic analyses.

It's an election year, so the wants will pop first, but I can't wait to see the holes.

Are we sure this guy lives in the ward? The address on his campaign reports appears to be his son-in-law's house.

This is like that Angel Connell guy for Senate whose address looks like his sister's.

How come none of the old guy candidates appear invested in the city?
Just had someone from Ward 5 ask me who Simon was... I legitimately thought it was his last name again and inadvertently provided that misinformation.

I got the Ward seat & former cop stuff right... but if that guy can't run his own campaign, not sure I'm hurting him.
Oh. I assume you’re referring to Simon Sarkisian. Former Providence cop running for the open Ward 5 seat as a Democrat.

MARCO RUBIO: Yeah. People are fixating on that. Here's the bottom line -- we expect to see changes in Venezuela

I get, maybe, trying to provide for an older constituency uncomfortable or lower skilled w/ technology... but does it print well?

The lack of self-awareness is comical.

The E2000 TSA being revoked tonight was proposed as affordable housing development in 2019.

State plows $1/4 billion into the policy area & a project w/ TSA in a permissible planned muni still can't get done in an area near projects, w/ low incomes, near a grocery & schools?

What gives?
