yes, the media was clearly waiting for a moment, and even without a moment were pushing a narrative that took just one Biden stumble to hit critical mass, everyone was primed to believe Biden was a shambling corpse and the debate just "confirmed" a year+ of brainwashing

a lot of people see the debate (and the reaction to it) as some kind of singularity, but really I see it more as a starting gun on an event already set up, the media had been aggressively dripping poison about Biden's age and ability for months (years)
