It’s been a bit over a month since my five-year-delayed, backed-by-the-department-and-college-committee sabbatical application was denied by the @psuliberalarts.bsky.social dean in a one-sentence email.

There is definitely "no place like Nebraska": U. of Nebraska-Lincoln (@unlincoln.bsky.social) is recommending the elimination of my Dept. of Statistics along with 5 other departments and other cuts. These recommendations include laying off 50+ tenured faculty--no other university does this. 1/

Check out this great piece by @mcclennen65.bsky.social in which I played a small part:

Greg Gutfeld will never outshine Stephen Colbert
Fox News tries to credit Gutfeld's show for Colbert's cancellation — but the facts tell a different story

Hey #edusky and #econsky. I’m teaching a new course on quasi-experimental methods at an ed school. All my materials are super econ heavy. Anyone teach a similar class that would be willing to share their syllabus for inspiration?

Chk out my new piece on the first time that CBS sacrificed satire and caved to pressure. It is a good reminder that they may be cancelling Colbert, but satire will adapt and thrive.

Stephen Colbert wasn’t CBS’s first satirical sacrifice
Caving to pressure from two presidents, the network fired the Smothers Brothers in 1969

Add: law professors.
Any judicial politics/courts scholar who does not operate from the assumption that SC justices are partisan actors is not fit to pump gas, much less write about the judiciary.

Just for everyone who sees this? This is exactly the level of rigor and dedication NYT has practiced in regards to its entire body of work on trans kids, affirmative action, and progressive policies. this is what they've always been. They just fluked up where everyone could see it this time.
The saga of the NYT's anti-Mamdani story taken from notorious white supremacist Jordan Lasker (they call him an "academic") gets even more amazing: Lasker's only impactful paper, which claimed white people are smarter, is infamous: it misused data so badly it got his tenured co-author fired. 2/
