Hi friends. As you may know the poor woman who was struck by a garbage truck in Clayton Park two weeks ago was a former co-worker of mine.

The charity where we worked, Chalice is running a fundraiser to help her husband cover expenses while he is off work at her bedside.

She is progressing daily

At The Swim Space with 7yo. We got nowhere with Halifax Rec. It was too chaotic and the pool too cold and too many kids in her class.

This is soooo much better for her. 3 kids in her class, a warm pool and a small, cozy pool.

10/10

Highly recommend for ppl with anxious kiddos.

Thirty-six years later, we still remember. Fourteen women, killed because they were women. We honour their dreams, their strength, and their right to live freely. We must never stop fighting gender-based violence.

108 years ago The Halifax Explosion shattered the city.

My Grampy, Parker (6) and Donald (4) Baker were orphaned. But thankfully for me, he survived.

My mom and I went to the 100th anniversary when I was pregnant with my youngest. A sweet little girl who we named Parker in his honour.

She will be very sad when I go back to work on Monday.

On this day in 1871, The Halifax School for the Blind opened with four students in attendance. After the Halifax Explosion in 1917, the building survived and the number of students increased due to how many people were blinded by broken glass.

Shit.

I found out the pedestrian struck by the garbage truck yesterday is someone I used to work with.

I don’t know what her condition is currently. She was in surgery all day and they are asking for prayers.

She was in discernment to become a Franciscan nun. She really is a lovely person.

Take it easy on the roads tonight. There’s a lot of black ice in East Hants, and a car off the road on highway 2 in Lantz. So slippery.
