What do you MEAN the president audibly SHIT himself live on camera and they immediately cancelled the press conference and rushed everyone out of the room like it's a fire drill, and it happened two days ago, and I'm just hearing about it NOW?

PSA: Pay attention to your light bulbs. Five years I thought my house was just dark. Nope, just using the wrong bulbs for the space. Bumped them from 800 to 1200 lumens, changed my life.

Pro tip: When making muffins at home, they can’t stop you from adding however many chocolate chips you want. Load that sumbitch up!

Or don’t, I’m not your boss.

Still haven’t come up with a satisfactory way to avoid any unintended-consequences funny business in the event I find a magic lamp.

Best idea so far is to first wish for the genie to truthfully answer all questions. Not perfect, of course, as truth can still be deceptive. But maybe gets you close?

This is absolutely hilarious, because I’d have to think by these dingbats’ own conception, this is not a gingerbread “man.”

Where’s the gingerbread dick, Susan?!

Read this whole thread, it’s delightful.

But also fuck if this doesn’t feel like a brutal summation of the last decade-plus of American politics.
...So much trouble could have been avoided if the people who knew what was going on were less cagey about it

Absolutely. And not for nothing, but this is also the dumbest use of a $6.5b donation to the government.

There’s a reason he’s donating this to “Trump accounts” and not, like, NEH or something. The accounts may not be a grift (just bad policy), but the donation is still dirty as hell.
Remember—Billionaire philanthropy is PR

$6.25B is a lot of money. It’s also only 4.1% of the $152B Michael Dell has hoarded. If Dell paid the 37% tax rate on the wealthy he'd pay $56.25B—and still have nearly $100B, more than he'd ever need

Taxation of billionaires > philanthropy from billionaires

It's not in this article but the government asserts that the sandwich was thrown at "point blank range", which implies subway sandwiches have defined effective weapon ranges of varying lethality, and I would like to see the government's chart of these ranges.

Stephanie Beatriz is a fucking phenomenal talent. The acting/singing in Hazbin and Encanto are so good, but so different, I still have trouble believing it’s the same person. And it would have been so easy for her to play Quiet as post apocalypse Rosa Diaz, but she didn’t and both are awesome.

Great thread.

Been 15 years since I was behind the wheel, and never in circumstances like this, but this hits me where I (apparently) still live.

Bus drivers Show Up.
One other 7/7 thread today. Because I think how the bus network got running again is a real testament to some serious heroes that day:

The bus drivers and staff who got that network running again and got London home that night.

And TfL/the Mayor disobeyed the Security Services to make it happen /1

Really good this is a work from home week, otherwise everyone in the office would have to listen to me humming songs from KPop Demon Hunters nonstop.

Instead, my family gets subjected to it. But they’re doing the same, so it’s all good.

I want a reboot/sequel of Person of Interest, and I want it queer as hell. All the simmering gay subtext between Finch and Reese made glorious text. The Root/Shaw sapphic disaster romance highlighted from the jump, no being coy.

Also, you know, themes of gov’t surveillance and AI seem timely.

“MAGA accounts”

Obviously not the worst thing in the bill, but seriously, what the shit.

Legislation by troll is fucking exhausting, I tell you.

Goddamn, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is just as good as everyone says. Still in the first few hours (I think, I’m a very slow player so it’s hard to tell), and this game hits so hard. Story, acting, combat, art design, everything just freaking sings.

Thanks, Internet. Good rec.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, the structured settlement secondary market is predatory as fuck. The gov’t should kill the whole thing by legislating JG Wentworth or whomever into the fucking sun. Or at least set up a gov’t-funded alternative to kill the economics.

Seriously, fuck those people.

He didn’t change his mind on shit. It was a grift, like it’s all a grift, and he’s gonna do it again and again. Announce tariffs to tank the market, “pause” them to get a bounce, rinse, repeat. He and the other assholes will make trillions while all our 401(k)s, 529s, etc. just fucking crater.

Saw a billboard today advertising some product as “immune to Trump tariffs” because it was manufactured in-house.

Not sure if that’s a rebuke of the tariffs or an endorsement of domestic manufacturing. But either way, I respect the hustle, getting that sign up so quick.

The whiniest, most bigoted assholes in our society have figured out that very few people in positions of authority-gov’t, colleges, business, down to a fucking amateur tennis league-have any goddamn backbone, let alone moral courage. So bigots whine, authority caves, and everyone else suffers.
in Brooklyn: Cammie won her match at Lincoln Terrace Park last week — and then her cisgender opponent complained to the league, saying “it’s unfair for me, or any other woman in this league, to play against a man under the pretense that he is a woman.”

and the league kicked Cammie out.
