For no particular reason tonight I’m reminded that Chuck Schumer runs all of his decision-making through an imaginary Republican family that lives in a LI suburb where 1.1% of the residents are Black, 97% live in a SFH they own, and 3% are under the poverty line

If there’s anything we can learn from the Columbia USNWR rankings scandal, it’s that if a school is withholding information from its Common Data Set, it’s to cover something up

iow, UChicago, NYU, and others who don’t reveal ED numbers must be admitting an obscene percentage of their classes via ED

I really don’t understand the targeting rule in college football

(This is in reference to the running TD by the Alabama QB that was called back for a hold, and at the end of which the QB was completely annihilated by a helmet-to-helmet hit)

I don’t think that ostensible Democrats/leftists should enthusiastically participate in the decades-long Republican project to discredit, disparage, and defund universities

This isn’t quite as bad as the George Packer piece on woke schools, but it’s close

Attention editors and newsrooms—having a kid doesn’t make a writer qualified to write about schools, and it seems fairly obvious it’s a potential conflict for them to write about schools that their own kids attend…?
Something disastrous has happened to student achievement in American public schools, and academics are nearly united in the opinion that the problem is not simply a product of the pandemic.
How Public Education Failed in the Liberal Enclaves That Care About It Most
Student achievement has fallen off a cliff. Neither Trump nor the pandemic is to blame.

Opinion | I was deep in neighborhood Facebook groups and Twitter replies all summer and fall posting that Mandummy would institute sharia law, seize private property, raze synagogues, and create a white people tax. Here’s why it’s outrageous that he hasn’t picked me to be his schools chancellor.

Caitlin Flanagan’s one of those people
I think there’s a critical mass of people including parents of daughters who actually think that it would’ve been a storybook ending if the grossly inappropriate intergenerational professional conduct had led to RFK marrying Nuzzi or Cuomo marrying Trooper 1, it’s nuts

UPDATE: bringing discourses together and revising this previous post. Actually about half of the families in Olivia Nuzzi’s hometown live in poverty
The Monmouth County town where Olivia Nuzzi grew up has a median HHI of $144,546; a median home value of $633,200; 90% of the housing units are owner-occupied single-family homes; and 6% of the students at her high school qualify for a free or reduced-price lunch

Not even on a second cup of tea and today’s first impeachable/administration-ending event has dropped

Calling ICE on the mother of your child, who you know was 5 when she came to the US, and who you know might not be returned to the country where she came from

Pretty fucked up!
“After Ferreira was detained, Dos Santos Rodrigues said Michael Leavitt Sr. and his father, Bob Leavitt, reached out to her.”

“‘They just kept saying, ‘Tell her to self-deport,’” she recalled. “Self-deport to where? Brazil is not her home.’” www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/26/m...
