One of these days I’m gonna wriggle up on dry land
Also found an online copy of the braised pumpkin from my Rick Bayless cookbook, which does not at all need to be limited to thanksgiving (and can easily be made vegan) www.greencitymarket.org/news/details...

Second T-Day is just immediate family at home and we like it spicy. There will be chorizo stuffing, chipotle-tomatillo-braised squash, and this insanely good turkey legs in red chile sauce. cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1016...

If you have one, this is where a sous vide is really clutch, for ease, juiciness and reheatability. This year I’m doing a combo of Samin Nosrat’s buttermilk marinade and Kenji Lopez-Alt’s technique.

Doing all this means I buy a whole turkey and cook the breast on First Thanksgiving and legs on Second. Breaking down a raw turkey gets a little… Cronenbergian, but then you can cook each part to its best advantage.

To accommodate a family member with mobility issues, we cook Thanksgiving dinner at home and transport it across state lines to their house. So, First Thanksgiving is simple, traditional(ish) and portable. Second Thanksgiving we cook and eat at home and we can get a little wild.

A long time ago I wrote an "If you like Stranger Things, you'll love this" guide to all the stuff it was ripping off. It was like 40 entries long, and that was only after season one

PS special thanks to the photo/design geniuses of the NY Times, whose images make my point better than my words do

As an urban runner / now biker, I don't really want an immersive audio experience while running because I need enough ambient awareness of my surroundings not to get T-boned by a car. But I use bone-conducting headphones for that. Running/cycling with speakers blasting is just sociopathic

I do (frees up a burner) but can’t imagine you need to—any method you prefer of steaming/boiling your potatoes would work just as well for this

This was almost like a photo-negative of the Zelensky live-TV meeting--startling but in the opposite direction, with very different power dynamics

Also I'm used to Mamdani's telegenicity from the campaign but also something else how *on-message* he is--not taking bait but also sticking with his own issues/framing, all while not coming across like he's cowed or kissing up. Dunno how many Dems could pull that off in a meeting
