The Brazilian film, I’m Still Here, is based on a true story. It follows the impact of the dictatorship on one family and the death by torture of Rubens Paiva, a former Deputy in their federal legislature.

Tonight I finished watching The Penguin Lessons with Steve Coogan as the author of the memoir. It reminded me of the desperate cruelty of the Argentinian junta and the other dictators from Brazil and Chile and Guatemala and sadly more. Because of the US regime those horrible forces may be back.

This is nuts and @mark-carney.bsky.social should be ashamed. Falk is 95 years old for heavens sake. As penance they should all read one of his books. They would learn something.

This is the Trump philosophy in a word … empathy and the urge for justice are a weakness. How dare they denigrate the people exercising their rights in this way. This regime will crack with continued political pressure. We saw it on #nokings day and at the elections.
Yikes 😬 an official U.S. government account just referred to Americans as “imbecilic morons.” That’s… a choice.

As always a fierce voice of reason 👇
Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

The cruelty is the point … no food, no health care for the poor or significantly less. Less air travel for the middle class at the holidays but sure invade Nigeria.

This speech by Mayor-elect Mamdani is breathtakingly beautiful. This is the politics I have worked a lifetime to promote. Personally I feel I have made too many compromises for what I was told was for the good of the party or an important election. I want more of this … jacobin.com/2025/11/zohr...

Keep in mind the current crisis is caused by the Republicans refusing to allow the needy to have food assistance because they want to take away their health insurance.

Remember when Texas Dems broke quorum & in response TX AG Paxton & Gov Abbot demanded their arrest & removal from office?

Under Speaker Johnson, Congress has been in session only 12 of last 100 days, absent since Sept 19, & he still won't swear in Rep-elect Grijalva.

Millions of dollars for his perceived harm. What a joke. I assume this is a backdoor way to get federal money for his ballroom scam.

Trump did what the British failed to do in 1812 … destroy the White House. This is a disgusting and disturbing image of our House being tarnished in this way. This is where we asked Lincoln and FDR to live. Where Kennedy laid his head before he gave his life in service.
