This is one of the strangest and most screwed-up stories I’ve worked on. www.londoncentric.media/p/tiktok-lon...
Who's secretly filming fake TikToks inside Londoners' homes?
We tracked down the viral video account invading people's houses to spread false claims about immigrants.

My curmudgeonly food-related hot take is that people with children's palates should just suckle a can of squirty cream instead of shit-talking grown-up food.

The Greenland nonsense should prompt Europe to use the nuclear option: they should threaten to stop honoring U.S. patents and copyrights. That would quickly educate Trump backers like Larry Ellison and Mark Zuckerberg cepr.net/publications...
Time for Europe to Use the Nuclear Option: Attack U.S. Patent and Copyright Monopolies
Trump’s push to seize Greenland includes $75 billion in tariffs that hit U.S. consumers, while Europe could respond by targeting U.S. patents.

And just look at the absolute weirdos in this cohort who want to determine our future. Half of them are genuinely delusional, operating under fringe religious or conspiratorial beliefs. This is why isolated, super-empowered individuals can't be allowed so much influence; they're often crazy.
Extreme wealth isn’t just an inequality problem—it’s a democracy problem.

When a tiny elite controls more wealth than half the world, they gain outsized power over politics, media, and policy while everyone else is told to fight culture wars.

We’re in a moral fight, and Democrats in Congress need to start acting like the opposition party on every 👏🏽 damn 👏🏽 thing 👏🏽

Opposition isn’t about polite press releases and sad cable hits. It’s about using every procedural tool available to slow, expose, and force accountability.

The core truth of the Trump era, and the one that journalism is forbidden from stating out loud, is that Trump has gathered around him a constituency of the country's worst people.

That's what most distinguishes them -- not economic status, age, where they live, anything else. It's shittiness.

I often complain about intrusive soundtracks in movies but I have just watched Man on Fire (2004, dir. Tony Scott) and the cinematography is so intrusive it's hard to make it through. If I were a film studies professor, it'd be included in a lecture on failed experiments. Just awful to watch.

I'm having a hard time coping with the anger right at the moment. But this, at the least.
Make the GOPers you know say out loud that they think it should be legal to publicly execute women if they displease a white man in any way.

I wish that people would not use "comprise" as a synonym for "compose" even though historically this usage is common and as a (begrudging) non-prescriptivist I am obliged to accept it. But, like, it's so *nice* to have a complementary set: comprise/compose, it's elegant in a way language rarely is.

This notion among Europeans that USian food is all shit annoys me even though I get where it comes from. Food safety standards in the US are high, but also compromised by corporate interests. Shit food is widely available & cheap, but so is higher-quality food. In the UK, I miss American produce.

Magic Johnson was the grand marshal of the Rose Parade today, and as someone who remembers his November 1991 HIV announcement: if you had told anybody that day that he would be alive and healthy 34+ years later, I don't think they would have believed you. Medicine and research—they work.

My newfound appreciation for rum raisin ice cream may be a sign of aging but I'm okay with it because gd is this stuff good

Not sure i could have appreciated the bliss, between raisins, of ice cream flavoured ice cream when I was younger.

Brigitte Bardot was an absolute icon, a legit important figure in cultural history, and the star of my very favourite move, which I've now seen 50+ times at least.

And it's cool with me for people to point out that she was, or became, a deplorable human being who I would walk away from at a party.

The hazards of being middle-aged in the post-peak-tv streaming era:

Started watching Old Man on ITV b/c I remember hearing the promotional interviews, etc. when it came out & thought it sounded good. I've finished the whole 1st episode and still can't remember if I've actually watched it already.
