Yes, that was a significant element of the strategy

Again, Cuban was just fearmongering about the government. He was saying that sometimes the government will be composed of people who are bad or who you dislike; therefore it should, in essence, not exist.

Republicans best trick was convincing the political press (and Democrats!) that any position they hold is legitimate simply by the fact they hold it. It can be morally reprehensible or nonsensical, but it must be treated as if it's as legitimate as or more legitimate than what the left says.

That's just a very lame "be afraid of the government" talking point. Yes, sometimes we will elect governments I don't like. Doesn't mean I prefer rule by insurance CEO.

Especially since the thing that the actual, real polling data conclusively demonstrates is the most voters don't have set-in-stone policy beliefs - you can get wild 30% point swings in issue polling by polling the same policy framed two different ways in the poll question

none of these people (inclusive of UK labour) seem to understand that voters want their leaders to *lead* them, not reflect their own ill thought preferences back at them

In the campaign the pattern was that there was a fake, imaginary Trump the media created, and the more the real incompetent Trump faltered the more the fake competent Trump was inserted into stories, analysis etc bsky.app/profile/lilb...
Is, "Too big to ignore," possible at this point? His senility got too big to ignore when he had a mental breakdown during his 2024 campaign. Most media outlets ignored it.

It's not exactly hard to reach the conclusion that voters respect conviction and are more inclined to vote for someone they disagree with if they think that person is principled and honorablke...but the Dem party has been working hard to undercut that belief and go all-in on believing in nothing

That's fair; I read the original post as lamenting that, in essence, we weren't more judgmental to try to cajole something like touring forever to satisfy you

Yeah, I think these posts reaffirm that generally you shouldn’t go around judging people for that sort of choice.

She didn't say that, and in fact she said nothing like that despite your use of quote marks for something she did not say.

Again, Dems would do better if they made it clear that they are willing to lose votes for their beliefs.

No clue what point you're making. What Crockett said is fine, and more Dems should be pushing back on this notion that they should be fluffing Trump voters all the time. Trump voters fucking hate them.
