If you wonder why I hate AI so much I can boil it down like this: I have a dummy X account I use for work and every day I see people outsourcing their critical thinking skills to a thing that, with just a few tweaks, will start calling itself 'MechaHitler.'

Finally got Covid after five years. Thankful for the vaccines that have helped make this thing feel like a very severe cold not something much worse.

I know the Supreme Court has given these fuckers an 'official acts get out of jail free' card but in a healthy society this would be an exhibit in a murder trial.

Stop. Promoting. AI Slop.

Honestly Reddit just depends on the communities you subscribe to. I use it regularly and am happy to not get bombarded with 'George Floyd Died of a Drug OD' slop like I get on Facebook.
Kind of a horrific future we’ve stumbled into where you read a headline about people leaving Twitter for Reddit and immediately think “oh thank goodness”

Incredibly funny how much political discussion is driven by the four things at the bottom while everyone else is getting cooked on Facebook looking at pictures of AI Eminem opening nursing homes for crying veterans

The reason the 'but we don't want the Irish' joke from Blazing Saddles was so funny is that, by the 1970s, Irish Americans had been accepted as part of white America, but when they first came here, they were reviled as other immigrants were. Perfectly shows the absurdity of xenophobia.
This is just gutter racism and it’s a standard that would never be applied to say, the descendants of Italian immigrants who fled the lawlessness of Southern italy post unification and now staff this fascist administration bsky.app/profile/publ...
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

The headlines don't do justice to the actual footage. This is straight-up barbarism from Israeli forces. Imagine what else happens when cameras aren't rolling.

Honestly I'll defend the internet itself. The problem is more social media that is algorithmically optimized to promote hatred.

There was hate in the internet but you used to have to seek it out. Now it gets actively recommended to you.
we have to go back. to warn them.

What's great about 'Weapons': You're mentally yelling at a character in the (equivalent of the) haunted house to flee before the monsters get him... And he does!

Then the monsters use a wonderfully novel way to get him after his escape.

1/ My historic reactions to new tech over the years:

1. Email: wow a new way to keep in touch with friends!

2. Internet: Amazing. So many sources for learning new things!

3. iPhone: Wow the internet in my pocket! Cool!

4. Social media: Another great tool for keeping in touch with people!

I have a modest counterproposal: BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS! BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS! BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS! BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS! BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS!

Yes and also ripping down the ballroom and auctioning off its pieces.
If they want to slow down the Trump administration, Democrats should begin promising this *now*
We're gonna need a truth and reconciliation commission and Nuremberg style trials to reckon with all of this evil, and any Dem candidate for office who shies away from a full reckoning in the name of "moving forward as a nation" can get well and truly fucked

The wholesale destruction of society has proven to be very profitable. Yay capitalism!
Since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, AI related stocks have accounted for 75% of S&P 500 returns, 79% of earnings growth, and 90% of capital spending (Capex and R&D) growth. am.jpmorgan.com/content/dam/...

Once again; you can't moderate your way to neutralizing an issue like immigration.

It's fundamentally just racist reaction. Nothing is ever enough because what's demanded—ethnonationalist homogeneity—is completely unavailable in modern conditions. There will *always* be a basis for more demagoguery
YOU WANTED NET IMMIGRATION TO COME DOWN! THIS IS WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE!

One way to fix this would be to take away Section 230 protections and open up Big Tech to lawsuits for defamatory slop posted on their platforms.

Yeah and it's at this point that I remind people that Adam Smith's parable about the efficiency of the invisible hand describes perfectly competitive markets where buyers and sellers have more of less equal knowledge.

But most markets ain't like that.
It really is something that Elon personally tanked the EV side of the business and his plan to turn things around is "robots" and investors haven't crushed each other trying to get out the door
Tesla's EU sales were down 48.5% in October, and are down 30% in a year-to-date when EV sales are up 26%.

Tesla's China sales fell 35.8% in October, for an 8.4% decline year-to-date.

Tesla's US sales fell 24% in October, after incentives expired.

IT'S HAPPENING!
