Partner tosses something small into the sink while I'm rinsing dishes and utters a cryptic phrase.

My auditory processing disorder: "i-scoop pilau"
My brain: "A smart spoon for a rice dish???"

What they actually said: "Ice cube fell out" (of the freezer door, I'm guessing)

Reflecting on THE atlantic article. It’s a searing, enraging, heartbreaking piece but more than that - it should be comforting to good people, and scary for bad guys.

I believe that we can protect our neighbors when the violence comes, and I know there are more of us than there are of them

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

I backed up my main Livejournal a few years ago, but I still have a couple others. One just has a few Regrettable Food type posts with long-gone photos, but the other is more of a diary and I should probably rescue it. Now I gotta figure out how to do a backup again.
