I'm a solo game developer (Godot) that makes YouTube content. I'm making a game about a spider's explorations in a surreal world.

This week, I worked more on my interactive #storybook for my #indiegame made in #godot

After many attempts and failures, I have found the way to transfer my #greasepencil art style into #godot

Today I added moving platforms to my #godot #climbing #indiegame

There is a lot of math and trickery that makes the spider feet follow the moving and spinning platforms.

Today I made reeds in #blender #greasepencil, again. This time, I like them more, and there is better control over z-ordering. My hope is to be able to make many variants for my #indiegame with less redrawing.

This week in #godot I made eyes for my spider. The eyes track the mouse position, and randomly blink. I used an #animated sprite for the white of the eye, and another #sprite set to clip to the parent node for the pupil.

Today I made a sunflower in #blender using #greasepencil and #3dmodels. I also used simple #armatures and #animation. This will be used in some cinematics for my game I'm making in #godot

This week, I made my spider character jump in my game. I also added visuals that help the player understand what they can do more intuitively.

This week, I used #godot to add #sprite images to my spider character, so it is no longer just colorful lines that are drawn in. The leg sprites stretch and flip based on distances and local coordinates.

Last week, I used #godot to render a #2d environment in a #3d scene. This week, I instead rendered the 3d environment in the already working 2d gameplay scene using a #sprite node set to #viewport #texture. It works way better.

This week I somewhat-successfully used a #Subviewport and a #Meshinstance2D to render my 2D game into a 3D environment. I need to fix all positions that are retrieved from the mouse because switching to a 3D scene broke them. I'll deal with that next week, I'll take this win.

This week I improved my spider's feet movement in #godot, so it feels more fluid to play. When testing I started going really fast and made a silly #speedrun video.

This week instead of making concept art for my #indiegame, I decided to use #greasepencil in #blender to make these reeds. I want to be able to rotate them about Z to look different for optimization. I'll probably remake them better another day.

Ok, last #tutorial for the day. Practiced basic #greasepencil tools. I followed this tutorial (youtu.be/LqKATaa2j84?...) and made this waving orange.

I followed a #blender #animation #tutorial by #cgcookie I got on humble bundle some months back. I feel pretty confident with creating #keyframes and managing them so that there aren't unnecessary keyframes and I control #interpolation now.

I added falling conditions to the feet of my spider in #godot It feels so much better climbing around when I can't just spam click and fly around the map!
