Burnley showed a lot of spirit and defensive discipline but the idea that they deserved a draw is a bit mad. Liverpool weren’t great but, as the stats show, they totally and utterly dominated. And they did what all great teams do - they kept going and ultimately found a way.

Honestly, what a 48 hours for Liverpool.

✅ Beat their title rivals on Sunday
✅ Sign Alexander Isak on Monday

Could be a lot worse.

#LFC work hard to put forward a message of inclusivity to the LGBTQ+ community. Marc Guehí made clear that he doesn't agree with such a cause. Although the Reds need to buy a centre-back, he shouldn't be the one that we sign. Read my latest piece here: www.andcouldheplay.com/why-i-hope-l...

UEFA of course allowed Man City and Girona to compete in the CL. Because of course.
Crystal Palace demoted to the Europa Conference League by UEFA. Let’s see how consistent European football’s governing body will be now on MCO cases. This sets a precedent. Real shame for Palace fans. Reminder that these are some of the same bodies that allowed MCO to grow in first place.

So weird to think Leroy Sane played Club World Cup all the way until contract ends on Tuesday and then will be out of tournament on July 1 when he completes Bosman deal to Galatasaray. Strange set of circumstances. FIFA might want to rethink allowing mid competition trading for such a short event.

Whether in Europe or South America or Asia, the owning class of football are able to monetise the backdrop created by passionate fanbases who pay for the privilege to be monetised. Now at CwC, it’s S. Americans, Japanese today, others giving the tournament texture, meaning. Curious dichotomy.

The most emphatic indictment of the Nobel Peace Prize is that it was given out every year Gandhi was politically active but Gandhi never won it.

No one was more committed to peace & nonviolence as much as Gandhi.

But Gandhi wasn't got enough or peaceful enough.

So why not Trump? 🤷

This is really good by @jonawils.bsky.social for @theguardian.com on how the Club World Cup looks exactly like the sort of competition a supervillain would create if they wanted to destroy the “euphoric purity” of football.

Chelsea can get away with selling assets to themselves, while both they and Man City are yet to face any action over financial irregularities. Meanwhile, Palace could be denied the fruits of the greatest moment in their history. That's modern football, I guess.

This is wild. This would embarrass me. This...would worry me coming from my club

We lost on 97 points and never made graphics like this, it was more "of course it's Liverpool who do this" and chat around clubs owned by states and that it's grim to peak when your opponents are pep + unlimited money.

#Newcastle 1st 🏆 in 70 years
#CrystalPalace 1st major 🏆
#Spurs #Utd Europa League Final
6 Clubs fighting for CL with 2 games to go

But yes, its the least competitive league ever

Reflecting on yesterday has made me appreciate Slot's achievement this season even more.
A Sword of Damocles was hanging over the #lfc season with the 3 big contracts, a brand new coach and DOF and the lack of arrivals last Summer.
To produce 90 point pace to win in that context is astonishing
