Been meaning to do this for a while but not got round to it, a public information thread on DUELS, particularly ground duels. They're being used more and more in the mainstream (which is good) but I don't think many understand the detail. Thread: 🧵

Yeah, have thought this for a while and wrote about it a few years back www.thisisanfield.com/2024/09/if-l... In some leagues, sporting directors do lots of media. In the PL they are allowed to hide.
If LFC wanted a head coach, Slot shouldn't be left to explain transfers
Fans would benefit from hearing from Liverpool's sporting director.

100% Dan. Let's start with small things: why can't more teams do something like this?

Important from @mjslater.bsky.social
PL club structures have changed dramatically and rapidly over the last 10-15 years but fans and media still interact with Head Coaches as if they are old skool manager supremos.
The "accountability gap" needs to be narrowed. #EPL

The severity of the PI penalty is the NFL equivalent of the soft pen in proper footy.
The cliff edge nature is extreme considering the subjective nature of many of the calls. And they arent reviewable. But i'm sure this is debated every single off season......

I remember Sean Payton getting a critical BS PI call against him in a Championship game which a stacked Saints team lost. So there's that

Am i being harsh to say that pass to Knox was definitely a bad throw by Allen's standards?

How did the Broncos get to 14-3?
Nix is 16 of 32 and none of the RB's have more than 20 yards

In almost every way, this is what a very good performance looks like. If you remove the scoreline from it, it's good stuff.
Chances, shape, danger zones, involvements are all good.

The worrying things:
-The substitutions are vibey and momentum-killing.
-Szoboszlai being just ok is not enough.

The PL XG table since the start of November (now 13 games, a third of a season)
And literally no-one apart from a few nerds care
Won't someone please think of the process? #lfc

The state of the #LFC fan debate now reminds me of the Rafa wars in Dec 08-Feb 09.
Its starting to get a bit nasty, a bit personal and a lot of positions are now entrenched.
That run started with the Fulham and West Ham draws and had 8 draws in 13

59 touched in a half for a creative forward is astonishing.
Its been a very slow burn for Flo so far at #lfc but the pay-off between now and May could be massive

One that has really surprised me about Reform polling 20%+ in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 is that they are so obviously English and an English nationalist party.
Either have a sister party with Welsh/Scottish leaders or maybe there is a rump of voters would support a right-wing nationalist party to challenge PC/SNP
BREAKING: Explosive new poll for ITV Cymru Wales puts Plaid Cymru surging ahead of Reform UK in May’s Welsh elections.

Plaid 37%
Reform 23%
Greens 13%
Labour 10%
Tories 10%
Lib Dems 5%

Plaid could form majority with Greens on this basis, with Labour out of govt for first time since devolution.

And exactly the same applies to the "u-turn" and coverage of it.
Nothing is going to change in the digital systems, your digital ID will continue to link them and align to your NINO, NHS Number, Driving License and Passport
The coverage of and reaction to the UK Digital ID makes me despair.
This should be an apolitical success story, something that's been going in-house in the civil service under successive govts since 2022 and is an absolute no brainer.
Should be the poster child of the state working for citizens

Great stat from Michael.
Flo and Hugo had an instant connection, right from the community shield. Now its starting to get productive. I get Gerrard-Torres 08/09 vibes from these 2 #lfc
Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz are the first pair of substitutes in Liverpool's history to both assist each other after coming on in the same match. #LFC
