A liquor store employee in Virginia was startled on Saturday to discover smashed whisky bottles on the floor of the shop and, upon entering the bathroom, an apparently drunk, sleeping and spread-eagled raccoon.

We have gone beyond dystopian to the utterly surreal, and I have suddenly realised that this is dictatorialy ‘normal’. For example, let’s have a gold dog statue in Turkmenistan and a gold Trump in Gaza. Don’t worry folks, both are totally normal.

A salutary lesson.
Cycling home last night, I was stopped at a traffic light when someone cruised past me on an unrestricted e-bike and snatched my briefcase out of the basket on the front of my bike. Despite hot pursuit, they got away.
Be aware, and stay safe.
