Is there any attack on our public institutions and collective rights that will awake the Ontario public from our sleepwalk into authoritarian rule in support of corporate power?

Water access is a human right, and the delivery should remain public.
"The new corporation could set water rates for municipal residents, as a privately owned, for-profit organization. Municipalities would have to transfer all their water and wastewater assets, staff, debt, contracts and infrastructure to the new body." 🤮

The right role of government is precisely the opposite of this: to allow citizens to use their collective power to keep their own money in their own pockets and spend it efficiently, rather than seeing massive profits funneled into the pockets of a few private interests. This is blatant theft.

Is there any more depressing story in urbanism than the fact that people kept cutting down speed cameras in Toronto, and then the premier just… agreed with them and banned speed cameras across the province?

It honestly makes me so mad.
All of Toronto's speed cameras are gone. How did we get to this point? | CBC News
Toronto's speed cameras may be gone, but this time there are no mysterious vandals wielding power tools, no blurry suspect photos and no police investigation.

Man I forgot to submit my Freeloading Cyclist Form (T-7724C) to the Canada Revenue Agency this year, crap.

This is a reminder for all cyclists to file your T-7725C with the Canada Revenue Agency to ensure you don't pay any taxes. This is a very real thing, and it is what completely justifies drivers wanting to murder us. Like, it's completely understandable.

Enforcement of traffic laws is a “cash grab” but also we need to “see some tax contribution” from cyclists because we need more money for roads.

My pitch for people concerned about using traffic cameras to ticket drivers becoming a cash grab is that the associated punishment doesn't need to be a financial benefit to anyone.

The offending vehicle can just be impounded for 30 days.

We can all lose!

I am interested in this construction that makes more affordable and liveable homes. These builds can be fit into existing cities far better than the 17 story messes being considered in #Ptbo
Further exploration of single-stair stacked flats, with external stair.

77x122 Lot. 30 Homes. 6 Storeys.
Roughly 2.0 FSR. 90% Efficient.
18 small units and 12 larger units.
All units are "corner" units.

In this version we're exploring wrapping the stair around a CLT elevator core.

Stroad

A pejorative portmanteau of street and road: an expensive, dangerous, and ugly design that tries to be both a high-speed commuter road and destination street with businesses, failing at both while being equally frustrating for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Stroad - Wikipedia
A stroad is a thoroughfare that combines the features of streets and roads.[1][2][3][4] Common in the United States and Canada, stroads are wide arterials (roads for through traffic) that also provide...
