Anyway, it just blows me away how many self-proclaimed leftists (not just liberals, but even leftists) consciously adopt the position that to achieve meaningful progressive change in the world - to confront the climate crisis, for example - we need to sacrifice disabled people. It's gross.

Like, to make this concrete, the recommended isolation period after a COVID infection was reduced by the CDC from 10 days to 5 days because the CEO of Delta Airlines asked President Biden to do it. And how do you think the CEO of Delta Airlines feels about meaningful climate action?

Not to mention, all of the hegemonic structural forces that came together to prevent the kind of meaningful political action it would have taken to actually deal with COVID are the exact same forces that are at work in preventing political action on climate. It's the same damn fight!

I'm under no illusions of how big of a societal, political, and cultural ask it is for people to mask in our current world. But that bar is extremely low compared to what we must ask if we are going to even begin to build any kind of just world that survives the climate crisis.
