Indeed! Though to be fair I’m pretty sure this is a fairly recent repeat category & have used that one before!
With any luck @bennewmark.bsky.social will do US states soon, got a song for that!

Can't believe I've not come across this site before. Would be brilliant as part of my weekly tutor quizzes. But now it's shutting down the free version in 2 weeks!!

Nice post.

Interestingly, ISI (for ind. schools) is still playing catch-up - their latest framework has something that looks more like a deep-dive than we've had before. I wonder if that'll go back the other way in a few years as they 'catch up' with Ofsted again!

Dunno, if I was working from home I'd be desperate to send my kids to school no matter what 😂

Frustrated that I got impatient & had to take a letter. Then saw it straight away & it seemed just so obvious!

That was with me supervising. I imagine if she’s on her own it may be worse… & so will end up spending more time making (& maybe remaking) instead of using (which I have a hunch is what happened over h/t). Would love some thoughts on how to help her overcome this!

I am working with a student on effective revision & I was showing her how to make/use effective flashcards. Hit a real barrier when she made a mistake & just completely froze - didn’t want to start again, but hated the idea of having something messy. She kind of fudged it a bit in the end…

Which sadly also (often) means “if you’re having problems it’s because you’re a weak teacher”

Yeah, I agree with all of that. But I do miss the intellectual engagement & the depth/breadth of community. It was literally transformative for me a few years ago. I don’t think what’s on offer now - across whatever platforms - would have the same impact for someone else.
