Minneapolis. Clearly a shit poster past his prime such as myself is very cool and wise and deserves a ton of respect and deference. This is a parody account. All posts are non-actionable parody.

Minnesota Senator Tina Smith is hearing that a man taken by ICE in Minneapolis has died while in custody.

“Minneapolis is doing so well against ICE and it’s so inspiring.” or, “my city is even better.” I am going to be very real with you. Minneapolis is not the name of the whole area, it’s the Twin Cities area. People need to come here and get very specific training to protect their own cities.

You’re not wrong you’re scared. Lots of people are very scared and say lots of wishful thinking things all the time. But honestly I kind of doubt Philly will do well because you need population density. If it’s 5x the size that’s a bad thing. ICE is hard to find.
I've heard rumors that Philadelphia is next for the ICE invasion after Minneapolis.
Maybe I'm wrong, but
1) More than 11% of all ICE agents are in Minneapolis, and they've utterly failed to pacify the city.
2) Philly is 5x the size of Minneapolis.
3) "Minnesota nice" is a thing. We don't have that.

ICE is an external other, not an internal problem. They're invaders.

MPD, whether we like it or not, is part of Us for a lot of people.

ICE is perceived as from out of state, not MN.

I've been turning this over in my head. A lot of us thought that the community response to the murder of George Floyd would change Minneapolis forever. It did to some extent, but probably far less than many thought. This will be different. Thorny to unpack, but we were never this unified in 2020.
Minnesota was already a great place to live. This moment strengthening our community bonds and shared identity will take that to another level. We're forever changed, in a way that only could only come from banding together to look out for vulnerable neighbors in the face of evil.
ICE and MAGA really did bet the farm on all of Minneapolis’s white people going “oh yes, please take away our disgusting, evil non-white-foreigner neighbors, oh thank you so much.”

it’s beautiful that they’ve been proven incredibly wrong about that - may the rest of the country do the same.

Very well said!

Minnesotan here, too. We truly are all interconnected. And, I think that most of the areas in our country that ICE has targeted have stepped up and pulled together in similar courageous ways.

We’re channeling Paul Wellstone here — “We all do better when we all do better!”

Call me crazy, but I’m pretty proud of my fellow Minnesotans in Minneapolis for literally silly stringing a Nazi and pelting him with snowballs. Real good there buds

Kind of a weird moment to post this statement, when the Strib is posting about violations happening right now. The order has been violated and someone needs to go wake up the judge. bsky.app/profile/star...

Just watched a few videos from the 11th Airborne, shows them snowshoeing through forests, mountain climbing, setting up arctic tents, shooting guns, riding snowmobiles, burning campfires. Umm…Minneapolis is not wilderness, we do have buildings and roads…?

We have many fewer guns than them. We have 100 times as many people as them. Even from a purely strategic perspective, it’s insane to pursue any means of resistance but one that negates their superior military force and advantages the side with the greater number of eyes and ears.

ICE is being suffocated by people LEGALLY and PEACEFULLY observing - following, recording, alerting. It’s plenty confrontational: they do not want to be followed, and ICE can become violent at the drop of a hat. But it is not crossing a line that will justify them using force against use.

There’s no real debate. I have witnessed a very small number of ICE activists advocating for carrying firearms or even trying to agitate by physically striking ICE vehicles, etc. Let’s be clear: the incredibly vast majority of people resisting ICE correctly believe these people are fools.

Were you in Minneapolis on Friday May 29th 2020? Did you get the EXTREME ALERT buzz on your phone? If not kindly fuck off.

Sharpie highlighter ICE as far as I am concerned at this point. They keep threatening to come in. What are they going to do? They are going to stop the people in the community from helping each other and do nothing to ICE, in short oppression. Don’t fool yourself this ain’t 2020.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.
