I listened to Mark Carney's Davos speech, and my reaction is just sorta grim "meh." Give me a preacher who declares "Blessed are the meek" any day over a banker who lectures about "pragmatic principle."
But I'm also more attracted to a church of poor folks than a conference of billionaires.

My 7-year-old nephew is really into YouTube videos of gamers talking while gaming. I know this isn't a new genre, but I don't understand the draw of the videos.

Get to know the owner of your favourite coffee shop. You never know when you might order your favourite beverage and only once it's already made do you realize that you've forgotten your wallet--and maybe the barista/owner lets you go with your drink.

I have such mixed feelings about this. I am appalled (though not surprised) by Hegseth's reasoning, yet the long relationship between Scouting and the military has troubled me for decades. And I say this as a still proud Eagle Scout.

Church people desperately need authentic, non-proselytizing relationships with non-church people. And I say that as a current church pastor. Groupthink actually harms people.
I once had a conversation with someone high up at Focus on the Family (not Dobson, though his death brought the story to mind). I was talking about folks who experienced church hurt, and he stopped me.
"Church hurt," he said. “I’ve never heard that phrase before."

IMO many Americans don't even buy guns for personal protection or to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. They simply have a shopping addiction
