Appalachian ex-pat in Canada. Often absent-minded, sometimes profound, usually caffeinated. Can be found in a pulpit most Sunday mornings.
As another immigrant to Canada, I am so glad that you add so much joy and positivity to our Canadian culture. Please don't let hateful spirits discourage you from your mission!

I'm not usually one who polices heresy, but whoa, buddy--this salvation-through-violence theology needs to be CAST OUT into the OUTER DARKNESS where there is GNASHING OF TEETH.

The full video is well worth the listen. I say this as a citizen of the "United States of freedom" and a permanent resident of the "traitorous snake" of Canada.

Honestly, pretty low key. Very mid-January-in-southern-Ontario vibes. But we did have a cake to celebrate the United Church Women and leftover funeral sandwiches...so, yeah.

That's largely my experience, too. I am always curious about what sources self-identifying pagans use for their faith. Pre-Christian Celtic traditions? Or something else?

I understand modern paganism as just another system of religious belief and practice--to be respected like any other. But I do know some Christians who talk about pagans as another word for "heathen."

But seriously--can anyone explain how these gamer videos get tens of millions of views and keep folks enthralled for hours?

I also understand that my annoyance at the reaction videos to gaming brings up childhood frustration of watching my gamer friends play while I sat by and watched.

I especially need to keep repeating these questions to myself when I spend time in Tennessee with church-going relatives.

This seems like one of those already-and-not-yet kinds of things.

I don't know whether Canadians would sing the "Star-spangled Banner" now, but I am sure that almost no Americans would even KNOW the lyrics to "O Canada" beyond the first two words.

After all, I was one of those Americans before I moved north of the border.

I was SO jealous when my partner visited Copenhagen for a course at this time of year. I was even more impressed when she shared a video of Santa Claus lighting a Christmas tree with a blow torch in a market in Roskilde.

The cookie is the human nature. The cream is the divine. The Oreo cannot be whole without both.
