I've moved here from X, where I had the same username and liked to discuss books, movies, ephemera, 1970s nostalgia, folklore, folk horror and, when their bullpen wasn't melting down, the Phillies. Hope to eventually find all those great people from X here.

Adell is the sexier, riskier, costlier move.
cheaper Ward just makes makes a ton of Phillies sense for one year, filling a corner outfield hole, mashing lefties and putting less pressure on the OF prospects.

I think Phillies need to be smarter about lineup construction, but I don't think they necessarily need (or can find) "guy who bats cleanup in 145 games." The Dodgers didn't have a set cleanup hitter. You put your best 3 hitters 1-2-3 and then try to create the best lineup for the SP you're facing

At about 80 minutes it does nearly wear out its welcome, but this is an amazing film from 1914 that's well worth seeking out for Dressler, Normand and Chaplin. Has a great "film within a film," too.

Folks don't appreciate how tricky of an offseason this is for the Phillies. It's not just about spending.
They may need to find a new catcher. But how?
Don't know what they're getting from Wheeler or Painter in 2026.
What if they can't extend Luzardo?
The outfield is endless question marks.

I turned a corner and, mesmerised by my torch beam, they were motionless for long enough to take a photo. Then they ran towards the popcorn popping sky over the hill (a village firework display). Their ember eyes and the way they’ve gathered under the pole make them seem a little alien.

Granted, this is a very obscure bit of raunchy wordplay from the 1980s show St. Elsewhere, but instead of giving me links Google AI just barfs out an incredible string of absolutely insipid & false nonsense.
