I’m learning a ton at COP30, but my most systematic research is on the ice cream at Sorveteria Cairu — famous for their local tropical fruit flavors. Preliminary results: cupuaçu and chocolate is a better combo than açaí and chocolate, though both were delish.

The newest executive order makes major changes to federal grantmaking, including additional review by presidential appointees and prioritizing applications with lower indirect cost rates. To the extent that federal funding remains, this is a big deal.

I hope it’s strategic. The BoT and uni admin won’t know/care if you don’t give a talk, co-author, or write a tenure letter. They clearly care only about the financial health of the uni not its reputation. Boycott donations or tuition. And/or support StandTogetherForHigherEd
